I have a 1996 yamaha wave venture 1100....ran greatsat for 2 yrs..started but only ran for spray into carbs....drained fuel started and ran good. Started about month later and would only run as long as primed with starter fluids...checked fuel filter(ok)...fuel flow to fuel pump ok...output of fuel pump appears ok....but engine will only run as long as starter fluid/gas is sprayed into carbs. I don't think it's the carbs as it ran great a month ago...now it's starving for gas flow....so it appears to be a fuel delivery problem...what would be the sequence of tests up to tearing into the carbs? is there a fuel filter inside the carbs? remember it fires off great when primed...until the fuel spray is consumed...

Please call me its easier to explain on the phone, in the mean time try something easy hit the fuel pump on thebottom with a brick or rock then have someone listen to the fill neck of the tank for the two second "buzz" as soon as you turn on the ignition, has this vehicle been run way way low on fuel many times or the fuel filter neglected to been changed at the 15,000 miles interval?

Hello, It could be ele. If you have ran cheap fuel in it and it has sit for a while, I would clean gas tank,lines, carb again, and run prem gas in tank.

well the first part of your question i was all ready to tell you to put a new fuel pump in, now not so sure, there is a relay for fuel pump, can you hear pump cycle and relay click? relay under hood you will have to listen close they don't run long maybe a couple secounds, if you don't relay bad. if you do pump could be bad, do fuel pressure test pump could be weak. don't think sunroof and turn signals are related, but stranger things have happend.

Well you didn't specify what kind of motor it is just that it's a 1994. If it runs when you use starting fluid but dies then the problem has to be fuel. I'm assuming you've changed the fuel filter. I'm not sure what kind of an engine you're talking about here but if it hasn't been run for two years and it has a carburetor the float could be stuck. If it is stuck in the up position this would block fuel from entering the carburetor. Check it, the fuel filter and the line coming from the tank and trace the fuel supply all the way to the engine from the tank.
