Extension Error when setting up new phone

I'm trying to set up a new extension in one of our satellite offices and every time we enter the extension, we get an "extension error" message. This is actually on a 5610SW IP phone. How do I fix this?

Look in programming, does that extension exist? If not create it. Or, turn on "auto create extension"

"Set unavailable" error received when I tried to Set Copy on Norstar M7310 phone

Are you sure you have the correct extension number for the destination? I may be more than "not progammed correctly" - perhaps it isn't the ext# you think it is. Try Feature*0 then all the keys, especially the line keys, which should give you the extension number.

I cannot ring other phones in our office and my phone doesn't display when other employees are on the phone

Hi Kym,

It sounds like your phone might be a bit of a lone ranger! Try cloning someone else's phone settings to your phone and see if that solves the problem for you. You can do this by:
Feature **266344
Password: 266344
You should see Terminals and Sets. Press the Show button.
It should ask the for extension number, so enter the extension of someone whose phone is working properly.
Press Copy
It'll say "Copy SystemData" Change that so that it copies subscriber as well.
Press Next. It'll say Copy Single. Press Next
Enter your extension number when it says Copy to:
Once it has finished, hang up and give your phone a try once it has updated.

HOW TO SET DATE AND TIME

You need to set the date and time from the default extension "the programming extension" normally extension 20 or 21. You need to enter system programming mode - refer to user manual, then once set, all handsets should display the correct date and time.

When the Norstar m7324 phone is set to night mode after business hours, the caller goes direct to voicemail when the caller dials an extension. How do I change it so that it rings at the extension a f

Night service will only control if AA to answer (main greeting) or human, you!.
If people enter extension and it goes straight to vmail then the user invoked that option (Feature 987) which is what you should do when you leave your office.

We need to set up a voice mail for an extension that has not been used in years. When I press intercom 777 and enter extension it tells me to enter password which no one in the office knows anymore. When...

The default password on partner voicemails is 1234. The reason for the call returning to the extension that transferred the call to the new extension is probably because the cover vms isn't set up for the new extension.
To check the vms cover for that extension, at either extension 10 or 11 press feature 00 and press the left hand intercom button twice. The display will say system programming.
Enter #310, the display will sayAutomatic VMS Cover Extension:
enter in the extension number of the new extension.
The screen will say either "1 assigned" or "2 not assigned"
enter in 1 (assigned)
press feature 00 when finished.

How to move my ext# to a new phone location Nortel t7316E

The system has a built-in feature called "Set Relocation", which will allow you to move your phone to another active telephone jack in your office and the extension number, voicemail box, and all features will stay with your phone.

Have your system administrator turn on Set Relocation, or check your Norstar administration manual for programming details. Or, you can call your telecom service company and have them send a technician.

Switching extensions

What do you mean their phones do not work when transfering to them... their phones still are working, but they might be different extensions now.

If you goto a set, and do a FEATURE * 0, and then press their intercom button, and see what extension comes up.

Lets check the system programming for autoset relocate:
-> get into the system
-> find SYSTEM PROGRAMMING and enter
-> find FEATURE SETTINGS and enter
-> look for SET RELOCATION: this is probably set to NO...
(when autoset relocation is set to yes, the telephone sets become smart phones, meaning when you move the sets- the extension(s) and buttons follow the set; if it set to no, the programming remains in the room/jack/port.)

There are a couple of options; but the easiest is to get the people to put back their phones to where they were, go into system programming after everyone put their phones back, turn Set Relocation to YES... and then get them to move the sets to their new offices... the phones will take sometime to come up(flashing alot longer than usual), that is because the system is reprogramming the sets to their new port assignment.

Forwarding calls between extensions

Yes, press Feature 4, then enter the extension of the line you wish to forward the ring to. You can also go into the phone configuration to forward after a set # of rings. To ring another extension at set times you will need admin access.

Line 3 and 4 are not programmed

You need to go into main programming of the system, and set the phone to access those lines. First ID the 2 new extensions. Do this by going to the phone, and pressing the Feature Key "Button with a little black globe", * and 0. then press the intercom button. This will show you the extension number. Press release "Red button with the phone and arrow downward". Then Press feature key "Button with the black Globe" "**266344" and again "**266344" go to terminals and sets. next to the buttons, you will see triangles , 3 for a while and 4 some times. The keys just next to them are your scrolling and enter keys. Scroll to "Terminals and Sets", press the enter button "Top right triangle" and enter in the extension and enter. then scroll to Line Access, enter, line Assignment. For each line, you have to change it to either Appear and ring, appr or unassigned. Set to appear and ring or appr. Do is for each extension to want to have acces to those lines.
