It sounds like the gas valve itself is the issue. Typically you’ll have this issue when the pilot safety mechanism inside the valve fails. I would try another thermocouple before I relaxed the valve, as I have had them faulty out of the box. Good luck ??

Is the sensor for the thermocouple located in the right spot in the flame, remove it and if you have access to a propane torch, heat the end till its red hot and leave it connected to the gas valve, then start the unit and this will tell you if the sensor is properly positioned in the pilot flame on the unit itself,if not you could have a defective new thermocouple or another safety device keeping it from staying lit or the gas valve is faulty

I have universal 350,000 propane heater. Fan runs, but switch will not turn on to allow propane to burner.

The thermo coupler is at fault. If pilot won't stay lit thermo coupler keeps gas off. So, Unless it is a bbQ , make sure the pilot is on or the thermocoupler stays hot while the gas is on.
