I have a 1996 Ford Ranger. Apparently a security system was added to the vehicle after it was first purchased in Broomfield Co. I bought it used in the late 1990's. Something kept running the battery down. I took it to a mechanic and he checked everything fuses power etc. And believed the problem was the security system. He disconnected the security system and now I do not have any problem with the battery. However I do not have wipers windshield washer dome lights. He check the power in each of the items and there was power but they do not work. What is the problem? Please let me know. Thanks

Disconnect the alarm. No one is going to steal a 96 ranger. Trace the wiring as the alarm intercepted the ignition, which you will have to reconnect. Pay attention to color codes and wire sizes if you do not have a diagram. Water proof the new connections.

SOURCE: I replaced the starter. Disconected the battery

Place your key inthe ignition, and turn it to the on position. Leave it forward for 1 hour, and then try again. This is how you reset the FACTORY alarm.

SOURCE: 2001 Ford Ranger Extra Cab windshield wipers don't

WOW that is strange. Get your self a test light or a cheap multimeter. Take the + wire off at the wiper motor and check if you have voltage / power. If you do then the problem is with the wiper motor if you don't it is the wiring or the switch. I know, not a complete solution but it cuts your problem in half :)

Good Luck

SOURCE: Aftermarket anti theft system problem

Found the problem - it was not the security system - it was an internally shorted battery. Replaced the battery and the car is fine.

Check your operator's manual. Make sure any and all fuses that have anything to do with the affected items are not blown and are working properly. If you can; check for loose fuse connections or wires. Hope this helps. God bless!

2003 Ford Ranger. Someone stole it and busted the ignition. How can I bypass all of the security on it to start it?

You need an auto electrician or an auto locksmith to fix it. You need the chip key and you need to fix the security, not find a way around it.

Ideas here if you want to play with it, but they seldom work on a good vehicle rather that one that has been 'busted'.

NEED TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP FOR 1996 fORD eXPLORER, V6 4.0. WHERE IS IT AND HOW DO I GET TO IT?

Great SUV, I have the same model; for Ford Ranger/Explorer/Mountaineer 1991-1999 check this procedure to Fuel Pump - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION...
(see Figures 1, 2 and 3)

To gain access to the fuel pump, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank.
  1. Depressurize the fuel system and remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
  2. Remove any dirt that has accumulated around the fuel pump attaching flange, to prevent it from entering the tank during service.
  3. Turn the fuel pump locking ring counterclockwise using a locking ring removal tool and remove the locking ring.
  4. Remove the fuel pump and bracket assembly.
  5. Remove the seal gasket and discard it.
To install:
  1. Put a light coating of heavy grease on a new seal ring to hold it in place during assembly. Install it in fuel tank ring groove.

  1. Insert the fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank, then secure it in place with the locking ring. Tighten the ring until secure.
  2. Install the tank in the vehicle.
  3. Install a minimum of 10 gallons of fuel and check for leaks.
  4. Install a pressure gauge on the throttle body valve and turn the ignition ON for 3 seconds. Turn the key OFF , then repeat the key cycle five to ten times until the pressure gauge shows at least 30 psi. Reinspect for leaks at the fittings.
  5. Remove the pressure gauge. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

How can I disarm the anti-theft alarm on my 2004 Ford Fiesta

If you are talking about the factory alarm, that is disabled simply by turning the ignition key to the run position.

If this instead is a third party alarm , then it will have a valet override button sowmehere under the dash.

Where are the timing marks at on a 1996 ford

I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual for your vehicle. This replacement will require removing many parts from the motor and aligning components that are normally not visible. If you fail to align the timing marks properly before installing the new built you could cause serious damage to your vehicle.
