I've changed MANY watch batteries but cannot figure out how to remove the CR2016 from a M892 Triathlon. I cannot remove the thin circular hold down piece from either of the two sides. Would appreciate some help.

Mcdevito75 here, The only thing I can think of is, if this hold down slides out of the way or if 1 or both sides of this clip have to be sqeezed together or away from the inside caseing with a very small screwdriver. I'd get a magnifier galss from a drugstore or diollar store and have a better look.

Testimonial: "Though I figured it out before I got your input, what I did was exactly what you suggested. It worked and the watch is fine. Thanks."

How do I change batteries on a M.Z. Berger AW 213 watch

I know it's been a while since you posted this question, but I just had to do this with mine after it was lost in a drawer for a few years, and I had no luck googling so I had to figure it out for myself.

First, you have to remove the band, but you only need to do this on one end, not both. I did this by twisting the watch body around while holding the cloth/leather portion of the band still, letting the elastic part twist around with the watch body. Then, just use a fingernail to pull on the ridges on one end of one of the pins that are holding the band on; both ends are spring-loaded, so it doesn't matter which. Twist the watch body back around, and you'll now be able to flip it over to expose the back.

Now, take a thin, strong blade (I used a butterknife) and pry off the back plate. There's a tab on the upper right edge of the back plate to make this much easier. Since it probably came off in the process, place the rubber sealant ring back around the edge of the backplate.

Once you have the back plate off, there's a thin metal piece covering the battery that's held on with one screw. Remove that with an eyeglass screwdriver or any other similarly-sized Phillips-head screwdriver. There's just a small tab holding the metal piece in place on the other side, so just flip the metal piece up a bit and pull it out. You can now take the battery (a CR2016 3-volt watch battery) right out.

But wait, what's this? Beneath that battery, separated by a small plastic insert, is another, smaller one, a 377/376 1.55-volt watch battery. The 377/376 powers the analog movement, while the CR2016 powers all the digital stuff and the backlight.

Replace both batteries, making sure to place the plastic insert back on top of the 377/376 before putting the CR2016 back in, and follow the steps in reverse to put the watch back together. You may have some difficulty getting the back plate back on, but I just pressed one side in and held it while I tapped the other side down with my fist.

Elgin watch battery

The 377 battery is located behind the CR2016 battery. You will have to completely remove the motherboard to change out this battery that runs the analog portion of the watch.

How do you replace the battery in a ironman triathlon sleek digital watch

Thank you for contacting FIxYa.
Turn your Timex Ironman face down and remove the four screws holding the back cover in place.
  • Remove the back case cover by gently prying it up with your screwdriver. Be careful to avoid disrupting any electrical contacts with the tip of your screwdriver.
  • Remove the interior sticker that covers the battery by lifting it up with the tip of your screwdriver. It should come off relatively easily. At this point the small circular battery should be visible in the compartment.
  • Lift up the small metal clip (battery strap) that covers the battery using the tip of your screwdriver.
  • Remove the battery from its housing and replace it with your new battery (available at any electronics store or online). Reassemble the watch in the same way you to took it apart.

I have just replaced the CR 2016 battery in my Timex Ironman it says after battery insertion short AC pad and battery ( ) to reset. How do I do this ?

To all who need to change their Timex Ironman Triathlon watches:

It is a little confusing, but this is a watch you can change the battery by yourself!

    First you will need:

-A big clear area (i.e. a table or counter) with lots of light to see what exactly you are doing.
-Small screw driver (like the tiny ones for a glasses care kit)
    -Paper clip

    Directions:

    1. Remove all screws from the the back of the watch (there should be 4). Make sure that you take note of which screws are coming from which spot on your watch and keep them separated as such.

    2. Next, you should see a white circular sticker with directions on how to change your battery. They aren't clear as "how to" but they are the basics.

2a. Take off the white sticker once you have memorized the places it is pointing to; set it up as such in front of you so you can refer back to it from time to time.
2b. You should see two silver pieces. One should be a circle (which is the battery), which is held in by another silver piece. This unlatches. In order to do so, you need to simply pop it open on one of the sides (as it tells you in the directions). You may use the same screwdriver or even a paper clip works wonders!

    3. Replace your battery (should be CR2016) with the + on top, facing towards you. make sure it is flat, not just shoved back where the old battery was. This make take some extra time and patience to make sure it is done right.

    4. Snap the silver part back into place (should look like it is holding the battery in place i.e. a gate).

    5. THEN: this is the most important and confusing part in my opinion. On the white sticker the directions read: "after battery insertion, short pads to reset". this should look something like an oval with a line cutting it in half (vertically). It is not on the battery but next to it. You will need the paper clip here to hold down the right most side (at somewhat of an angle). this should do it! you'll know if your digital faces flashes numbers at you and may even light up. Make sure you hold down long enough.

    6. Once you have the numbers flashing, you are good to go. Put the back of your watch back on, taking note of which screw goes where. Then, set your watch accordingly and you have just changed your watch! Ta-da!

Follow these steps and you should be good. Good luck to all!

Which watch battery do I use?

There are lots of different size button batteries for watches. I work in a clock shop where we change batteries in watches and I have had people bring the watches into me without batteries and it is really a guessing game. A lot of watches take a #377 battery. You can try that or take it to a place that changes watch batteries and let them figure it out.
