My brother's cooker, a Smeg suk62mfx5, main oven does not operate or heat up. This includes the fan and light not working. The top oven and hob all still work. I had a similar problem with our cooker which was resolved by replacing the timer unit which, when faulty, renders the main oven inoperable. Is this a possible know fault with this oven make and model? Cheers, Peter

problem is almost certainly the circular element. these sometimes fail with obvious damage but not always. check continuity across the element to be sure. you are right about element fixing. there is no reason why the design should'nt allow removal from the front as many do but i suppose the guys who make these things don't have to fix them.

Either teh grill element or the oven heating element is fault or the thermostat or grill regulator, locate which element is warm, if the grill then it is most likely the regulator, if it is the oven it is the thermostat. Engineer

there should be a regulator on back of the stove where the gas line connects.you will see a plug that unscrews,remove this plug and run the unit.if this solves your problem clean the plug really good and put back on.

Relax. The problem is in the switch that is activated when you turn the gas on. It has either misaligned or broken. The gas itself is not involved. Generally, raising the top of the burner area will gain access to the switch and valve. Inspect and readjust or replace. Oh, and disconnect the electricity before touching the switch itself.
