You may have some broken wires in the print head wiring harness about 1" from the L. side frame.

Return to tab

Don't confuse tabs and margins, after a return it always goes to left margin. Use the tab key to go from the left to the next place where you set a tab

Where can I find carteidge holders for BJC-80 Cannon printer

Hello JBM,

Please press the cartridge button and the cartridge holder moves to the center. Gently press and pull the front cover toward you. Press the green tab on the front left edge of the BJ Cartridge cartridge holder. This releases the BJ cartridge. Lift the entire cartridge out of the printer. If installing a new BJ cartridge, take it out of its protective packaging. Peel off the protective foil, and lift the cartridge out. Lift off the orange cap from the print head. Then remove the orange tape.

I can't set my margins. If I turn the typewrite off and on, the margin goes to the left side. If I then type and hit the return key, it goes to a spot farther to the left. IF I try it again it goes even...

First put a little shot of WD40 on the silvhaft that the carrier slides on (both sides) That should stop the margin changing. You can get a manual at NADIST.COM click on current models.

AE 740 types different characters than typed on keyboard

make sure your printwheel is latched securely, turn off t/w, press and hold the margin release button while turning power on to do a reset/self-test. if characters are not right on self test, then you might have a problem with either the carriage or main board.

Beeping

It most likely beeping because it cannot make its resetting movement. That is,it cannot "find-out" where its left margin is. There may be something hindering the actual movement of the print carrier. Check inside the typewriter by lifting up the top cover and move the print unit by hand. It should be able to move from the left to right-hand side of the typewriter unhindered. The shaft that the print unit moves on should be clean and it may have gathered dust etc,so give it a wipe with a clean cloth (lint free) with a small drop of light oil on it.. Replace the top cover and switch on the machine
