Kdc=152 kenwood car stereo is in protect mode.

Solution: Open the hood of your car or van, and disconect 1 battery wire, do-not let the battery wires touch, this will re-set the stereo back to normal, you do not have to remove the car stereo from the dash, this is easiest solution. Then reconnect the battery wire with a wrench.

Kenwood cd player keeps flashing "protect" when i turn it on. How do i fix this?

The "Protect" message indicates that the unit has detected a short or surge in the wiring to the unit. Check your ground and make sure that the speaker wires are not the problem. (Any broken wires or speaker wires that touch the case of the CD player could cause the issue.)

If there are no obvious wiring problems, then the unit has an internal short. That should be resolved by sending the unit for service if it is under warranty.

Please add a comment with the model number of the CD player for additional information. I hope this helps.

My kenwood head cd unit in my car keeps on flashing "protect" i checked all wires in the head unit and nothing.it will stay ok for a while but it goes back to protect...

hi,
Check the speaker in you car which are connected to you head unit. if the speaker or the wire which runs to the speakers have some problem then the head unit will show protect.
Also one more possibility is, the faulty output amplifier IC in the head unit. if the audio out put IC is short or fail then also the unit will show the same. Audio output Ic means the audio amplifier. Check the speaker and wire first. Mainly the wire check is there is any insulation damage in it. if the insulation get damaged possibility to get contact with the metal part of the body of the car then also the protect will appear.

MY KENWOOD CAR CD PLAYER IS SAYING PROTECT??

Hi,

Kenwood head units show "protect" when there's a problem with the speaker outputs. This might mean a shorted speaker wire, a blown speaker, or an internal defect in the head unit. Once the condition that's causing the "protect" mode is fixed, the CD player should be back in normal mode the next time you turn it on.

If it's staying in "protect", then you'll definitely have to remove the stereo and do some troubleshooting to fix it. Many car audio stores will do system troubleshooting, for a fee. If you want to do it yourself, here's what you need to do:

Pull the Kenwood unit from the dash and disconnect all the speaker wires. Turn it on and see if the "protect" message displays. If it does, the stereo has an internal defect and will need to be serviced. If it doesn't, then turn it off, and re-connect one speaker. Turn it on again and see if it displays "protect".

If it works with a single speaker connected, keep re-connecting the others until you identify the speaker that's causing the problem. There may be a wiring problem or defective speaker in that location.

If it displays "protect" with a single speaker connected, then disconnect that one and try a different one. If all the speakers cause a "protect" mode, then you're probably back to a defective head unit, unless your friend managed to blow all your speakers at once.

Thanks,

Protect:- The speaker wire has a short circuit, or touches the chassis of the vehicle, then the Protect function is activated. Wire or insulate the cable properly and then press the reset button. If the "Protect" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service centre.

Security

"Protect" isn't for security on a Kenwood; it's caused by a problem with the speaker output. There may be a defect in the CD player, or you may have a blown speaker or a shorted speaker wire in the vehicle. Try disconnecting all the speakers and see if the unit still shows "protect" when you turn it on. If it still shows the "protect" message with no speakers connected, the unit needs to be serviced; if not, re-connect the speakers one at a time until you find out which one is causing the problem.
