Our maytag ensignia dryer stop working, the light comes on when we open the dryer door, but when we try to put it on a drying cycle it doesn't work. It doesn't even try to start it seems like it is totally dead.
Had a storm come through with several power outages. Now the dryer will run for approx 5 seconds then shut off. when it shuts off all the LED's around the dial flash one time, a second or so later, they all flash again and that's it. Purchased 2006, All lights work on the dryer however it will not turn on. Model # MDE4658AYW. Appears you have to take the entire dryer apart just to check the motor ?

try a simple test before you try to gain axcess to the console parts unplug the power cord 1 min plug back in and put in time dry not auto or it will time out quickly without wet cloths see how it does and if this not solve you problem repost with model #

yep there is and it is on the right side of the heater housing, it is connected by 2 white wires, you have to remove the heating element toget at it part is a la-1053
Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.
To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning
