Vizio 47 in. HDTV LCD Television Problem NO sound on HDTV live or recorded. Non-HDTV sound ok. I unplugged all the extra connections I had and relied on the HDMI from HD/DVR cable box. I did same with Theater system, leaving just the HDMI from it to the HDMI on the Vizio. I additionally used the red/white wires from Analog Out on Vizio to Theater system, which seems correct, but no improvement. My original goal was to play TV through Theater system when I wanted, and still have Theater system show DVD on Vizio. Secondary goal to cleanup wires which weren't needed. Instructions say this Vizio is GV47L FHDTV. Printed 2006. It is 47" LCD HDTV with HDMI, optical connections, etc

Unplug the TV from the wall. There must be something wrong with your circuit board. Call customer service for what to do to fix your TV or get a new one.
Before you go to any more trouble troubleshooting potential hardware and/or connection issues, look at this page of reviews on Dell's site, taking special care to read 'Review 8' by an owner named 'Milwsport'.
Either unplug dish from tv or use the antenna side which is HD and program channels and see if volume the same, if not and is OK then it's your Dish bring your sound down or audio cables bad.
I had this exact problem on my Vizio 47" HDTV. I removed the speakers and all the screws on the back cover. Took the cover off and located the fuses on the largest circuit board. The are in the upper right hand corner of the board. There are 3 of them in a row labeled LF 1.5, LF 3.0 and LF 3.0. The are white in color with copper ends. I took a volt meter and measured continuity across all fuses individually and found the LF 1.5 to be blown. The guy at the electronics store sold me a barrel 1.5A fuse and told me to soldier it across the top of the blown fuse. It took an extra set of hands but the TV works perfectly.
this could be one of two problem. first, check if you have back light. If you do then the problem is with the M/B. Second, if you don't have back light then the inverter is bad and needs to be replace.
hi......it seems that there is some loose connection in the oscillator section.some capacitors in that section have gone faulty.also change the switches in the front panel so itself on& off problem will be solved...thank u rate me!!!
I reset the comcast cablebox. I totally unplugged the cablebox for 20 seconds and then plugged it back in. Turned on both the cablebox and the tv and the HDTV channels operated correctly.
