Fan will not work

The fan won't operate, but the lights work properly so I know there is power to the unit. It has been working properly for the past 9 year. Then one day the fan stopped working, but the lights work fine. Did the motor just give out?

Mcdevito75 here, Most likely yes, Check the fan by carefully turning it just a liitle by hand, also check for heat at the fan motor base, close to the ceiling. If heat or fan won"t start by hand, replace it.

Won't start

Make & model number would help. What do you mean NOT WORKING...not cooling, not operating, no cavity light...etc. Could be many issues, if there is cavity light then there is power to unit. Other items...compressor start device, cold control, defrost timer, rodent issues. Fan issues.

My mother has two identical hampton bay ceiling fans with lights that are operated by a remote control. She does not know the model number. The remote will not operate the fan or the light anymore. It is...

Someplace there has to be a power (wall) switch that controls the power to the unit. Make sure it was not turned off by accident. If both the light and fan do not work on the unit, it sounds like a possible wiring problem or receiver problem. Unless you are good at house wiring, it may be best to have a professional come in. I would think a loose wire that takes power from the switch up to the fan/light unit or a white wire that would be a common neutral wire for both the fan and light. It might be a bit too complicated for someone without experience to attempt to remedy on their own.

Ceiling fan won't run but the light does work. Fan has worked in the past but now just the light works. Why would the fan not work? This is a Hampton Bay Northport III ceiling fan ( product of Home Depot)

mcdevito75 here, You say fan worked in the past, That tells me the fan has not run in over 1 month if so, try this. First, the fan motor is a sealed unit, without running the fan in over 1 month it may be a little stiuck, put the fan lights on, and pull the fan chain just once and turn the fan blades themselves just a little to get thm started. also verify fan switch itself is good, Chain switch should have the familiar click click to it. If not the fan swich could be bad.

I have a packard bell imedia x2414. it crashed and now wont start up. the fan works about 4 seconds and then goes off. the blue power light no longer comes on but a red light does.

Hello,

If possible, clean the inside of the laptop free from dust, then reseat and re-paste the CPU with heat sink paste.Tighten everything properly. Please do all of this when the unit is both OFF battery and OFF A/C so do this when the unit is not on ANY power.

My ceiling fan does not work.It is a Hampton Bay. There is power.

Hampton Bay receivers are notorious for taking a dump, replace the remote. If you're just adding the remote... There will be 6 wires on the remote, a set of two (white and black) a set of three (white black red or blue) and a single small wire by itself. The single wire by itself is the Antenna wire, do not wire it to anything, or it will fry the board in the receiver.

Doesn work at all

I've had the same problem. Get the technical assistance phone # out of the manual that came with the fan. They can give you the proper part # so that you can then call Home Depot and special order the receiver. However, I have done this and then installed the new receiver as advised by Hampton Bay and I still am unable to get the remote to operate the fan or the lights. I know the fan works becaue I bypassed the receiver and wired directly to house power. I don't know if perhaps I have a bad transmitter (remote). I'll try that next. The fan worked for about a year, now its just a headache.

Fan and light stop working

Has the breaker been checked? and reset?
I would check that voltage is getting to the unit with a volt meter.
To be done only by qualified persons.

No fan power and no lights would indicate no power is getting to the unit. I would check and possibly replace the wall switch. They wear out sometimes and fail to work properly.

If you do not know how to work with AC voltage then DO NOT ATTEMPT call someone that can.

Operation light and timer light blink 5 times?

I don't know if this is the proper technical solution or not but my unit was having the same issue. I cleaned it checked fuses made sure the cover was properly in place and nothing worked. As a final thought I went to the home fuse panel and tripped the breaker for the unit, waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on. I did this with the unit set to off. When I came back and turned it on, it is working properly with the operation light solid red.
