Having issues researching this model #, but front loaders fron LG have two springs and either 2 or 3 shock absorbers to dampen vibrations. Take top off and check that the springs are in place and not broken. If good then from the back or from underneath, check to make sure the shocks look good, connected, etc. if no obvious issues I would replace all the shocks because if springs are unbroken and in place, they are rarely an issue.. also, do a spin cycle without any clothes and see if unit spins without issues. It should. If it doesn't you may have a broken spyder that holds drum to hub. Bigger issue, hard to replace but possible. Good luck.
Open front door. Pull push on inner drum and see if it wiggles independent of outer drum. If it does, then the knocking is a bad bearing or spyder(part that hold drum to bearings). If inner tub is tight, then I'm not sure issue. LE error is a Rotor Position Sensor error.
Check online videos. YouTube.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Use block of wood to pound out old bearings. Use old bearings and block of wood to seat new bearings.
You can repair it, but it really needs to be done by a qualified technician. What has very possibly happened, is the spider assembly has snapped that connects to the drum (that's the noise you heard).. The drum has now collapsed. Different machines open differently. The later ones have plastic outer frames, and when the "spider arm"collapses, it eats large chunks out of the drum internally. It in my opinion is not then worth the repair. For the older ones, one needs to remove drive belt and pulley then strip front of machine to enable you to open it up. This will let you then remove the inner drum. Inspect spider assy. and see if actually broken. (I'm sure it is.) Phone agents for replacement parts which will be 2 bearings and a seal and the spider assembly.Install and reassemble.
Unplug power cable, remove top cover and inner panel, locate water level sensor on the right with 3 wires and a thin tube, remove the tube and puff into it until you hear water bubbling. This will clear any blockage caused by suds build up. Replace tube, covers and plug back in. It should complete cycles now.
most lg front loaders have the plastic outer drums which have about 16 h/duty screws holding the two halves together. extreemly tricky to strip to gain access to inner bearing and seal. Th/stat, motor, piping and other items have to be removed and dissassembled to enable drum to be removed. that repair i suggest for a service repair.
