Pilot and burner light then gas shut off model 7900

How many degrees before it reaches desired temp, does it shut off? A thermostat is designed to shut the furnace off a couple/ few degrees before it reaches set temp. It has what is called a heat anticipater, which shuts the burner down, and lets the blower use the remaining heat from the heat exchanger to bring it up to desired temp making it more efficient. If it is more than a few degrees, replace the thermostat. You can jump out the red and white wires to confirm the faulty thermostat. If by doing this, the furnace never shuts down, until you separate the red and white wires. That confirms a faulty thermostat. Hope this helps someone.

Gas burner wont come on ,it just keeps making a clicking sound but doesn`t come on fridgidair

Is the gas shut-off on? (If the problem is with all burners this is the first place to check.) Usually the shut-off is at the back of the unit and you can reach it after removing the bottom storage drawer. Make sure the burner parts are put together properly (some sealed burner units only fit one way). Check that there are no clogs in the burner slits. The clicking is the ignitor trying to ignite the gas, btw.

Additional problems are recommended for professionals. However you can look for a clogged orifice when you disassemble the burner for cleaning.

I hope this helps.

(I don't know of any range that has a separate burner shut-off (just oven shut-offs) but you might check your range.)

Flame shuts down after 5-8 minutes

AFTER THE BURNER SHUTS DOWN THE 1ST TIME IT SHOULD COME BACK ON WITHIN 1 TO 3 MINUTES. WHEN THE BURNER TRIES TO COME BACK ON YOU'LL HEAR A CLICK AND THE GLOW OF THE IGNITOR SHOULD BE VISIBLE. AFTER 30 TO 60 SECONDS IGNITOR SHOULD FADE AND THE BURNER SHOULD FIRE. IF IGNITOR FADES AND BURNER DOES NOT FIRE YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE BURNER COILS #279834. IF IGNITOR DOES NOT COME ON YOU WILL HAVE A T STAT OR SENSOR ISSUE. SOUNDS LIKE COILS TO ME. HOPE THIS HELPS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTAT ME [email protected]. PLEASE RATE MY RESPONSE.

Large burner won't shut off

This stove uses a special switch that turns one way for the large burner and the other way for the smaller burner. I was not aware that this had a seperate simmer burner on it, however. I think you using the wrong term there.

This is not computer controlled--the only computer on it should be the oven switch. I would assume that you need to replace the switch for the dual-size burner. If you take your model number in to Sears, or log onto Sears dot com, you should be able to get to the PARTS DIRECT web site on the computer, and if they ever sold that model you should be able to pull up a parts breakdown with expanded drawing and part numbers and prices. You should be able to buy the part from them. The part should be virtually the same as ANY recent model Frigidaire or Kenmore stove with the same style burner. This should be a very easy repair for you to make yourself, assuming that you know a little about working with electricity--remember, this stove USES 220 VOLTS!

Check out all of the wiring coming into the switch and going from the switch to the burner to be sure that there is not a short!

If you have one of the older smooth surface stoves, where the burners are part of the ceramic top, all bets are off, but anything you bought new in the last half-dozen years, should have a separate burner underneath a glass top, and the repair should be simple. Even with the older stove, it is still likely the switch, and should be no problem.

Cooktop burner will be dim and red automatically

when you set a cook top burner to high then it should stay on until the "thermal" limit shuts it off. then the burner will stop glowing. if you dont put a burner on the top, the burner sensor will shut of on the thermal safety.
it is normal but what you need to check is if you pans are flat on the bottom. a bow inwards or outwards will cause the thermal to shut the burner off. the pan needs to "draw" the heat out of the top and allow the burner to operate properly.
most of the time the pans a warped causing the burner to cycle on the limit and then not heat as well as it could with a "flat pan"
