I have a Leisure Bay 24 ft above ground pool thathas a 1.5 hp Jacuzzi Hurricane pump and a jacuzzi sand filter. The pump is moving water very well but I noticed I have "a lot" off bubbles under the strainer cover on the pump. It is not blowing bubbles back into the pool. I took the strainer cover off sealed everything I could think off around the o ring including the cover and replaced it. That made no difference at all. but now I notice when I shut the pump off for the evening and push the diverter pressure handle down to maintine pressue I am getting a leak of water coming from what appears to be around the handle of that valve. Is there a gasket in that valve unit and how do you replace it?

Probably a "O" ring as the seal
if the pump is doing what it is supposed to be doing and everything is normal. I would not stress about air under the cover as water contains air in suspension ( how fish get their oxygen to live) and from the turbulent action of the pump impeller , some of that air will be released and collected at the highest point of the flow line

when you replace the oring make sure to get some o ring lube and liberally apply it it helps a lot to keep it from kinking or bunching up when being tightened

SOURCE: I have an above ground

I think you have a air leak. A 1.5 hp motor is very strong and should vacuum well. Be careful to not over tighten the top of your pump housing.

Is your impeller in good shape? It may be worth your while to remove the pump motor from the pump. While you have it apart, replace all the seals (there is a kit for this). Inspect the impeller and all parts of the housing - any junk inside? Remove it. After you complete the rebuild, reinstall the motor, fill the pump housing with water, secure the top and start the pump.

Our pool is about 90000 litres of water so how big filter do we need please

If you have a above ground pool go with the Cartridge or sand, and if underground go sand or D.E. All have their ups and down you should find out what you want from them specifically cause they all do varying amounts of the same thing.

Sand Filters
(Filters using literally sand)
For sand filters, on inground pools, I like to use a 30 inch tank diameter, which is a 4.9 sq. ft. filter surface area, and holds 600 lbs of sand. For small pools (under 20,000 gals), I might advise the next size down (24 inch tank), if the budget is tight. But never go smaller than a this for an inground pool.
Cartridge Filters (like a air filter)
I have a rule of thumb for cartridge pool filters. 100 sq. ft. of filter surface area per 10,000 gals of pool water, as a minimum. I like to see the 400 sq. ft. models on inground pools above 25,000 gals. These can go an entire season without cleaning in most cases.
D.E. Filters (Ground up fossilized algae)
Because they offer the most superior type of filtration, people tend to go small with DE, and buy a 24 or 36 sq. ft. DE filter. Ugh - go Big! Nothing below a 48 sq. ft. filter, and if your pool is over 25,000 gals, go with the Big Boy - the 60 sq. ft. filter.

Also make sure the filter can take the amount of water that the pump is pushing through it.

We have purchased a Hurricine By Jacuzzi pump and filter. We are trying to install but since we purchased this used we cannot find a manual to install it. Could you tell me of a site that might be able to...

I don't have a copy of the users manual for these pool filters, but ehow has a pretty thorough instruction list compiled. Take a look at this and see if it helps answer your installation questions.

I Have a Jacuzzi Magnetak pump. I do not know the horse power. 115 volt, 12.4 amps, 3450 rpm. It is attached to a DE filter sstem. The pump is at least 6 years old. It runs well and pumps well for 1-3...

The earth filter is in need of a good cleaning. You may even need to acid wash it. Welcome to the high-maintenance draw-backs of a DE filter! Once cleared your system should go back to operating normally.

1/2hp Hayward Pump for existing inground pool

you will be fine with the 1/2hp. The Hayward will move quite a bit of water as well. It may not move as much water as the 3/4hp but it's very close and the 1/2hp will cost a little less to operate so if anything, you may just have to run it for one additional hour per day to compensate. You will be surprised how much water a 1/2hp will move. The only issue with smaller pumps is if you have pop-up cleaner heads or a suction driven automatic cleaner such as a kreepy krauly, however, if a 3/4hp will run it, a 1/2hp will run it as well. You can install a larger motor on the super pump but it will not move more water unless you upgrade the impeller as well. Just make sure you don't use a bigger impeller than what the motor is rated for because it will strain the motor and cause it to overheat. Hope this helps.

Air in my jacuzzi pool pump

It sounds like air is entering the system through the clear dome (filter access) on the pump. Check the o-ring directly underneath the clear plastic dome. CAUTION: Be sure to isolate the pool from the pump via in-line shutoffs prior to loosening the dome lid. Sometime cleaning the o-ring and coating it with petroleum jelly helps the unit seal better.

I have a jacuzzi 1/2 hp submersible well pump. Does this need any regular maintainance to keep it happy.

No preventative maintenance is necessary. However, a happy pump always has water above it and should not pump sand. If the water level in the well is below the pump/motor they will overheat. If this is a problem your local pump company can install a module to protect your pump from this type of event.
