To unprotect a picture, while viewing the picture press the protect button (marked with a key) to the right of the viewfinder. To delete the picture, press the delete button (marked with a trashcan) below the multiselector.

How to unlock a photo in camara

The protect function allows a user to protect a picture from accidental deletion. To unprotect a picture on your camera, scroll to the protected picture that you want to delete, then press the Menu button (the button to the right of the Play button.) Scroll down the menu and you should come to an option that allows you to Protect/Unprotect the picture. Since your picture is currently protected, deselect that option. You should then be able to delete the picture normally.

Alternatively, you could also format the memory card, however this deletes ALL photos and data you have on the memory card. If you are trying to completely clear the memory, this is the best way. After turning on your camera, simply press the Menu button, scroll to Setup, then scroll down to Format. Select Format, it will ask you if you want to format the memory card, or the camera's built-in memory. Format whichever one you want to clear, if you are using a memory card then your pictures are stored on the memory card. It will take a few seconds to format.

Hope this helps.

What make and model camera? On most cameras you unprotect a picture the same way you protected it, possibly by pushing a "protect" button. No matter what, you can clear everything off the card by formatting it. Cards should be formatted each time after you download pictures to a computer instead of deleting individual pictures. FixYa is full of people asking how to salvage pictures from cards they didn't format.

If you want to delete ALL your pictures, the easiest and best way is to format the card. In fact, the card should be formatted each time you finish downloading your pictures to your computer. FixYa is full of people asking how to retrieve pictures from cards that haven't been formatted regularly.

Need to delete protected pictures

Try to remove first the memory card of your camera. After you remove the card you can see a small button at the side of the memory card. Just slide the small button to unprotected. Insert your memory card back to your camera and try to delete pictures.

Why is my memory card write protected

Hello there,

You cannot delete pictures if the memory card inside your camera is "Write Protecte". What you need to do to unprotect it is to turn off the camera and take out your memory card. You will find a small 'tab' that might be pulled up or down. If it is pulled down, you can slide it up or vice versa. Put it back inside the camera and start deleting pictures.

Hope this helps you. Good luck!
