Unable to establised the IP address of the printer. How do I find out the IP address of the printer?

Printer works fine but, in order to put our name as the sender on all faxes, I need to first establish the IP address through the Speed Dial Utility. These are the instructions of the manual. However, I am unable to obtain the IP address of the printer in order for me to perform the above steps.

Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. This has been a fustrating process.

In advance, thanks for your help,

We need to get the printer to recognize the network server name or IP address. At present it says "Unable to connect to (DC-260-795622). The server name or IP address may be invalid.

Ensure that all your network settings on the printer are correct, especially the DNS settings. Are you able to ping the printer from a workstation? Maybe you have a bad cable connecting the printer.

Set up epson workforce 600 printer wifi via dlink dir615

Configure the IP address range your wireless printer, (this is done through the printer's menu settings) make sure it matches the IP address range on your wireless network, it maybe 192.168.1.*** then configure the wireless printer with a fixed IP address with the same IP address range but higher address eg. 192.168.1.10 so it does not clash with any other IP addresses.
Next install the printer driver normally.
Then configure the printer Properties.
Click Start - Printers and faxes - right click on the Brother printer - click Properties - Port tab - click Add Port - Standard TCP/IP port -
Port Name eg. 192.168.1.10
Printer name eg Network printer
Click OK
Then do a TEST print if it does not work then the IP address is probably incorrect.

Network installation error access denied on hp lj1020 my printer was working fine. i have installed printer on xp m/c its working fine but when i install it on win7 it give error print spooler error or...

HP says to use the Vista drivers. You have to install it a a local printer follow these steps....

1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing. Print a network config page or make note of the IP address and Name. (should be a static IP)

2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices and Printers.

3. Click the Add a printer

4. Select Local printer

5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.

6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's host name (found on the printer's network configuration report the generated above). Click Next.
If you get a message about Additional Port Information Required, then the printer was not found using the host name. You can go back and retry or using the printer's IP address instead of the host name.

7. Select HP or Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.

If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf.or use currently installed driver if you have teh correct on installed. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.

8. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.

9. You may be asked to share the printer. Make a choice and click Next.
10. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
11. Click Finish.

Printer unable to obtain IP address

Reset the TCP/IP information. To do so, Turn off the printer power. With the cartridge door open, hold down both cancel and continue buttons and power the printer on. Hold the buttons until the lights cycle. The TCP/IP information should be cleared. Wait a few minutes. The printer should pick up a new IP address from the network, or should set a default IP. Press the Continue button to print a new test page, and you should see the new address.

Brother 845cw printer is offline -

Had same issue and here is what worked for me.

1. Go to Printers and right click on Brother printer and choose 'Properties'
2. Click the 'Ports' tab and with proper Brother printer port highlighted click 'Configure Port'
3. In second field titled "Printer Name or IP Address" enter the IP address of printer*
4. Click 'OK' as need to exit out.

I'm using XP so this may be slightly different depeneding on your flavor of Windows. The main thing is to name the port with the IP address and not rely on name resolution.

Hope this works for you too!

* If you don't know your printer's IP address then you can go to your printer and under the 'Reports' section print-out the Network Configuration report to find IP address.
