JVC KD-R610 is stuck in Protect mode

I have a KD-R610 and the screen keeps flashing protect mode. I am wondering how I an get it off of protect mode because I don't know what the problem is. Have tried checking the cords and reset the system but nothing works.

Try disconnecting your battery, reconnecting it, and resetting your stereo. If that doesn't work, the constant power (yellow wire) or ignition wire (red wire) may have come in contact with ground or isn't properly connected. Make sure everything is connected properly and try resetting your stereo. If it is still flashing "protect", the unit needs servicing Contact JVC Customer Care Center at: 800-252-5722.

I had the same problem... There is a little reset button when the faceplate is off. I pushed it and it started working once I put the faceplate back on

My jvc kd-s27 turns on fine then goes to protect flashing will not stop or do anything else

Sounds like one or more of your speakers are grounded out or just bad. Did they all play fine before. Check your wiring to make sure it’s correct

My jvc kd-r610 car receiver is not playing or anything. I blinks "protect"

JVC head units go into protect mode usually when there is a short circuit on one of the speaker wires. Sometimes this is just caused by moisture in the doors or wherever the speakers are located. The first thing to do would be to reset the unit and see if it fixes the problem. To reset the unit there is a small button behind the faceplate which you will need to push in with a pen or other sharp object. Hold this button in for a few seconds. This will reset the head unit to factory settings which does mean that you will lose all of your saved radio stations, audio settings, color settings etc. If this does not work then one of your speaker wires is probably damaged. To find out which one unplug all of the speakers, reset the unit and plug them back in one at a time. When the unit goes into protect again you have found which speaker is causing the issue. Cheers, Dan

KD-R416 jvc deck. my deck is showing protect on the screen heellllpppp hahaha

protect mode means that you have a short either in the power supply or in the speaker leads themselves somewhere down the line.

After instal of JVC KD-R610, the words 'protect' flashes, and I'm not sure what i've done wrong. Wires match, connections are good, i tried the rest...???

this usually happens when there is a short in the speaker wiring (wires crossed) or when you have too many speakers hooked up. rule out these factors.

I believe i may have gotten some water in my JVC car stereo KD-R610, and I am wondering if there may be a way to save it? Is there a special or correct way to reset it. The radio comes on but says PROTECT....

If you have not put on the set after the water logging then you could have been saved. Now there is a chance that the processor section have shorted circuit. please open the set, use a hair dryer and warm up to clear up all the moisture. use petrol to clean the main board do not put any petrol on the main panel or plastic.but only the PCB. after cleaning heat again till you have warrmed up and cleared all moisture. reconnect the set and test. I hope this must clear your fault or else you will be having faulty componentts that needs further continuity and voltag checks for finalising. hope my advice helps. good day
