Vicks Vaporizer shorting out the house power

I bought the vaporiser yesterday and it worked beautifully. Today it is shorting out the power and will not stay on. We have tried a number of different power points in different rooms to get the same result.

Could be faulty element or earth leak - as it is new - I strongly advise you to change it at the store you purchased it from.

When i plug it in it blows the trip switch in my house, it worked fine the first time but now this is all it does, can you advise as to what the problem could be please

You have a short in there and that accounts for the tripping circuit breaker. If the insulation on the heating coil has gone that could be a good reason for the issue. Open it up and look for the short.

WHERE CAN I BUY VICKS WARM STEAM VAPORIZER

Problems in a Vicks Warm Steam Vaporizer comes when it is mis-handled or when we buy non-warranted products. It is the best solution to spend money on the branded and cheap vaporizers.

it has a short in it. if you are electrically minded you could open it, and try and find where, (probably an element problem)

We have a water softener and I think the water has too much salt and therefore, our Vicks vaporizer has too much steam. Any suggestion?

If your softener is working properly, you should never get any salt in your water. The salt is used only to reactivate the ionic media in your softener cartridge, and during the backflush cycle, all that salt is removed, down to PPM (Parts Per Million) levels.
In any case, even if you used salt water in your vaporizer, it would not increase the amount of steam that it produces. Salt water has a higher boiling point than fresh water. You would also notice salt buildup inside the tank as the water level goes down.
The Vicks Vaporizer works by using only heat to produce steam- the hotter it gets, the more steam it makes. The only practical way to get too much steam outside of a malfunction that causes your heating element to get abnormally hot would be if you live at a very high altitude where water boils at a lower temperature.
High humidity in your home will make it appear as if your vaporizer is making too much steam since the surrounding air will be less capable of absorbing it.
A slightly "off topic" note- if you chose the Vicks Vaporizer/humidifier and have children, you have made a wise decision. Because it produces water vapor by heating instead of ultrasonics, contaminants and minerals (such as salt, iron, calcium, etc.) remain in the tank and will not enter the vapor stream.

Vicks caporiser is spitting water instead of steam

Clean the unti - and do not add salt. I live in a major hard water city...and was amazed at how much dirt the tank collected. I tried adding salt to to stop the spitting, which did make a lot more steam, but did NOT stop teh water spit. I also noticed, with salt added, water in tank would only last 4-6 hours, not the 18-24 hours it should. I just figured it out, and now mine works great again, and does not spit. I cleaned the water tank throughly, several rinses, then wiped out entire inside. If you want it to work like new, you have to keep your tank as clean as new. I am going to start filtering my water that I put in with a double pantyhose I made simply so there no more dirt ~ a clean tank will fix the problem, it did mine :)
