Hotpoint WMA31 Front Load Washer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jul 21, 2010

Hi there, I just bought a second hand hot point Aquarius washing machine. I plugged in both hot and cold pipes, turned on the water and the hot pipe started leaking at the connection between the main water copper pipe and the washing machine screw connection. I have turned the hot water tap off. Do I need to use the hotwater? Can I do a wash with only the cold water tap turned on?kind regards Col

No problem at all using only cold. Most washers only will fill with hot water after that all other cycles use cold.

I have been delivered a Aquiras Extra WMA 40 but I only have a cold pipe but I notice the machine has a hot and cold pipes do I connect to just the cold pipe and will the machine heat the water inside

No, the machine does not have a heater unless it has a sanitizing cycle which heats already hot water even hotter.

For the machine to work as advertised, you'll need hot and cold water connections. However, if you just hookup the cold water and run the machine on its cold-water setting it will wash -- the laundry may not be as clean as you would like in some cases, but the machine will operate properly.

How do I install a second hand waher/dryer with limited piping?

1 yes all standard.2 Yes you can get a Y piece. 3 no you will only use water from cold. But you can solve that by going to a good hardware store or B.Q and gettein a self cutting tap for washing machines. You can fit this in just minutes, and do not even need to turn off the water supply. just make sure there is a clean straight piece of pipe to fit it to. 4 yes fit waste pipe to u bend under sink.

Washing machine

This is a Hot and Cold fill m/c.
You obviously have the hot water supply connected to the cold in let valve..
at the rear they are marked H and C .
Make sure the cold water is connected to C,and the hot to H.
Plz rate my solution. Thanks.

Hotpoint Aquarius WF100

Firstly, there should be only one hose, always connected to the cold supply.
The unit will heat the water to the setting you choose for the wash (40 - 60 - etc)

Secondly, if the unit is leaking water, try turning down the cold pressure, this will slow the supply pressure to the unit and prevent spray out from the detergent drawer.

Your supply tap should have an isloting tap on it, adjust this until it sullpies water at an acceptable rate.
Do this by feeding the hose into a bucket/basin and tweak it until it pours out - not sprays out.
This should alleviate any leaks around the machine.

Hope this helps.
