My Fridgidaire FEF366BCC just popped my breaker

My Fridgidaire just popped my breaker downstairs. I unplugged the stove from the wall and switch my breaker back and the breaker hasn't popped since. Once I plugged my stove back into the wall, it popped the breaker again and sparks came out from where the plug goes in. Is there any type of ground that could be defecting this? I pulled of the back panel to make sure everything was tight.

This sounds like a main control problem. More specifically like one of the relays is shorted. You will need to acess the main control and carefully inspect it for any burn marks. If you don't see any disconnect the main power supply wire going to the main control. Then plug it back in if it trips the breaker the problem is in the power cord or wiring from the cord junction to the main control. If it does not trip the breaker the problem is the main control. It's possible that you had a surge when the power returned that scrambled the controller's brain. Try disconnecting power and reconnecting to restore normal operation. Disconnect power by unplugging the stove from the wall or switching off the breaker that controls it at your main circuit breaker box. Wait a minute or two, then plug the stove back in or turn the circuit breaker back on. If the stove does not work after this, you may need a new controller board.

I had a stove that wouldn't work after the breaker switched off even after resetting the breaker. I had to unplug the stove and then plug it back in to get it to work again. I'm not sure if this will help our not but it's worth a try.

Oven stopped working
If you are saying that the breaker in the breaker box has been tripped, then there is a problem with the circuit or in the stove. The circuit may be checked with a volt meter. If the problem is in the wiring circuit, the breaker will trip with the stove unplugged. The problem is most likely in the stove, and the stove's wiring needs to checked. If you are unfamiliar with 230V wiring and how to safely test the wiring, have an appliance technician service the stove.

The same thing happened to me about a week ago. I was preheating our electric oven, heard a very loud bang/pop. Checked and the oven had PF (power failure) I went downstairs and the breaker was tripped. Came back upstairs and to look at stove, the burners are working fine so I continued to preheat oven after a half an hour the oven was only slightly warm. Did you ever find out what was wrong?

Unplug stove from wall/receptacle. Remove back panel. Check power cord to black power distribution block. Red wire probably burned.

Stove power is out
Turn off the power.
Remove the rear panel on the range.
Repair the broken wire at the wiring terminal.
Install a wiring strain clamp at the terminal block to prevent this from happening again.
