White "press dot" screen

My Garmin comes on and then after showing the "Garmin" start up it goes to a blank white screen with a little black dot in the bottom left corner and it says "press dot". But I press the dot and nothing happens. It is stuck on this screen.

Screen is white and the "PRESS DOT" moves all over the exterior of the screen. Cannot get past the WHITE SCREEN PRESS DOT phase. HELP

The actual answer is to press the dots, but use a dull plastic tool that fits "within" the dot. Otherwise the width of your finger is too imprecise to calibrate the dots and screen.

Hope you, and others, get this and try it. It works. I just discovered it and did it, successfully after only about 10 presses.

I found the answer on another site and it worked! You need to use a plastic tool that is smaller than the dot. (I used the corner tip of a plastic ruler.) Very precisely touch the dot WITHIN the dot, do not overlap on to the white space. After about 6 - 10 times - Voila! It's fixed! It's some kind of calibration function. What I thought might take hours to figure out was fixed within a minute thanks to some valuable people who gave me the answer. I wanted to pay it forward!

OMG!!!! For months I have not been able to get past the "press dot" screen - the people who offered the advice of something plastic and not bigger than the dot - were exactly right!! It works again!!! Thank you sooo much!!! After about 5 "press the dots" - it recalibrated etc... I am happy again!!!

Have you tried pressing the dot? Press all of them until the screen has been calibrated and hopefully you'll come back to a main menu.

July, 2012: Nuvi screen stuck - white back with black dots and direction to 'press dot'. I tried everything I read on-line (including here) with no results. next morning I took it to Radio Shack (N Main, Prov RI) where I bought it thinking need new GPS fast (business reasons) and techie took it, turned it on and played some kind of game with the dots, like he were playing PacMan. Bingo. GPS screen came up 'recalibrated' and works fine. Advice: go to amazing techie at Radio Shack in Prov RI. Run, don't walk. :)

Laptop screen white and cloudy

From your description I would expect that the LCD panel has shorted or gone open. Either way the panel needs to be replaced. Depending on the age of the laptop you may be better off getting another laptop, new or used, and just swapping out the hard drive to your drive. If you decide o do this be sure that the laptop you buy is compatible to your old drive.

Garmin 1100lm locked in press dot game?

Your unit is in calibration mode. There should be a black dot to press on the calibration screen. Keep pressing the dot as it moves around the screen, you may need to press very firmly and use a stylus until it says calibration complete.
This usually occurs when a unit is dropped or left in extreme temperatures or jammed it a glove box or console with things jammed against the screen. It could also occur if you are touching the screen as you start.

My screen just went white and a black dot appeared with the message press dot what should i do

Try pressing the dot. If that does not work you can try resetting the unit which will return it to factory specs but all your saved information like favorites and routes will be lost. The reset button is on the bottom of the unit. Power the unit off then press and hold the reset till it starts and the choose yes on the screen to restore the unit.
I have attached a link to the manual which shows a photo of the location and page 13 describes the reset in more detail.

We have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000 flat screen television. About 6 months ago, the screen started displaying white, green and black vertical lines and dots. This continued for a few weeks and then the...

It's a connection inside the TV that's faulty. It could be as simple as reseating the ribbon cables that connect the control board to the glass display. Or it could be that the fault is on the board and needs to be replaced. The fact that the problem comes and goes should tell you it's fixable.

Garmin starts loading maps, then screen goes blank

First do the master reset -Hold down finger in lower right corner of screen and press switch on button. Hold still until asking of erasing all private data appears. FAST click on YES.

If it doesnt work:
From www.garmin.com -cllick on SUPPORT -> SOFTWARE
Get webupdater and install it. Run it and you'll find button "Find device". Of course you can't because it does restart all the time.

Hold down finger in UPPER LEFT corner of screen and press switch on button. Hold still for about 10 seconds (GARMIN appears and nothing more) and fast connect the USB.
HOLD switch until icon of connected computer appears on the screen. After then device stops resetting.

Webupdater can find your device, and now you can put a new firmware by doing step by step instructions from webupdater.

Garmin C330 white screen

Have you tried a Master Reset? If not, it may help, but it WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES, and may remove anything you have updated. To do a Master Reset, turn the unit off. Press the On button and the bottom right of the screen at the same time. Release the On button, but keep pressing the screen until the unit asks if you are sure you want to reset. Press yes. This may help.

Blank White Screen - No Menu Showing

My Sansa has a similar problem. Sometimes when the Sansa turns on (after the Sandisk logo) the screen will either turn black, blue, or black and white stripes. The player still works, but it is hard to navigate without the screen, obviously. What I end up doing is letting the backlight turn off and then pressing any button. Sometimes when the screen comes back, the display is allright again. But sometimes it takes more than a few tries. Turning it off and on again seems to work a little better, but it is more time consuming.
