Turn on the R5100. Set it to any option, like

Turn on the KLH R5100. Set it to any option, like TUNER. It stays on for a few seconds and then shuts off/goes back to 'standby'. This started happening after I hit the test option, but that could be totally coincidental.

Connect R5100 to DVR/Monitor

use component audio to the HDTV and optical audio to your KLH reciever. The component and optical are always active at the same time. I work for TWC if you have more questions.

Klh r5100 turns itself off after a few seconds

It is over heating. Mine did the same thing. Make sure you have plenty of breathing room for it
