What does it do? The compressor do not run? Anyways compressor windings can not be checked with an ohmmeter for short. You can check it if it is open but a resistance measurement will not help you.

When turning freezer on it buzzes and chatters what could be the problem?

there should be 120vac at the overload and relay on the compressor. if a 120vac is present unplug the freezer and check for continuity thru the relay and overload. if the overload and rely is ok you may have a grouned compressor or open winding at the compressor. perform a continuity check from the c-s then c-r then s-r then c-gnd then s-gnd-r-gnd. readings should be infinity, if not you have a bad compressor. the work should be performed by a trained appliance technician.

The condenser unit will not kick on...it is a concord unit,10=12 years old,13 seer,3 ton. The air handler works fine. I thought it was the capacitor. The old one was bad,I verified that with multimeter....

It could be a low refrigerant cut-out (switch), grounded or shorted motor windings, open internal winding overload protector (check at the common winding), a broken conductor, or no power at condensing unit from blown fuses or open/tripped breaker.

My frigidaire is not cooling. my fans run and my compressor tries to start every couple of minutes and runs for 5 to 10 seconds. keeps repeating this

That could be an overload unit is fault due to fatigue or the relay that need to change from start winding to run winding is fault.if not the compressor is short cycling due to less refegrant gas in the systerm.Find a leak and regas after sealing it

Freezer & fridge not cooling

If the fan inside freezer and outside and below refrigerator are continuing to run I want you to unplug and pull away from wall. Remove the cover on back near floor so you can reach in and feel the top of compressor. Is it warm, cool or too hot to keep your hand there? If too hot to keep hand on compressor that tells me the compressor is trying to start but cannot. This is not good to leave power on and not try and see if we can get the compressor going. The run capacitor is mounted adjacent to the compressor. It is electrically connected to the compressor circuit to provide the required phase difference between the start and run windings for running the compressor. Capacitor Failures May Be Caused By 1. A Short Circuit - Will cause the start windings to be energized continuously in the start mode. The compressor could start, but the overload protector
will trip, and eventually trip continuously.. Here is a photo showing the=> MSD2756GEW Compressor Components See part 4 in the photo that is the=> 12002784 Relay and Overload Kit I could write all night but if you can get these things checked we will find the reason for the refrigerator not cooling and most likely that set of parts is the reason. I will be here to assist you, Thanks Sea Breeze

Pump humms and barely turns. Fan blade caught wire caused huge spark. wire has been replaced.pump does not really seem to get going and trips safety after a minute of running.

hi there!
short circuited at start damage motor compressor
if you have a service center for motor compressor have checked this one, motor compressor has thermal overload protection mostly on single phase motor inside the motor,in the absence of overload protector the winding of motor on start and running maybe shor circuited.this should be rewind by motor rewinder.check the cost of motor rewind to a brand new motor.have choose n it.have a nice day fix my rate.

Maytag window ac blows line cord fuse soon as turned on

Check all your electrical wires and connections. If all okay, you can remove the compressor wires and ohm the compressor motor windings to ground. If you have continuity from any winding-to-ground, your compressor is shorted out and will need to be replaced.

Fan works compressor doesn't overload protector keeps clicking 3 pins on compressor all tested short on rx1 tested no grd

Test or replace the run capacitor first. Then add a hard-start capacitor based on the motor size/hp. When checking pins on compressor remove all wires and test to chassis ground since this should be open circuit. Resistance between pins should be in the range of normal start and run windings, not less than 20 ohms on the start windings.

Please help our ac compressor wont come on

Hi, did you change, capacitor for compressor too. check compressor overload switch,(relay) normally located on compressor terminals, (where you connect wires to compressor) that's the device that goes klix when compressor goes to start, could be faulty, or maybe low voltage from your mains(house panel) check line voltage, with digital volt meter, some compressor won't start if voltage drops to low, yes fan will work, could also be, your compressor has a lock rotor, (hard start), you can buy a compressor hard start kit, from appliance store, and try to start compressor, or maybe compressor internal winding, are damage, especially now in summer, when you got a lots of voltage drops, check compressor winding, check compressor winding for short circuit, remove cover on compressor, remove 3 wires from compressor terminal, use ohm meter, put one tester lead on copper tubing that's connected to compressor, and next lead to compressor terminal, one by one, if you get beep (continuity) from anyone of those compressor terminal, you got a short- circuit in compressor, you will have to replace compressor, but if there's no short, them try hard- start kit, replace overload relay, you will see it at compressor terminal location, after you remove cover. good luck.
