Please check for the belts if the battery you have installed is new and the set gives a hum on play. If not you will have to check the power switch, the mechanism switch and the line to the main board.
If the motor turns but not the capstan and the reel then change the belt, the rollers or the pulley. I hope this will get your set back to action. Good day

The most common thing that goes wrong with the WM-3 TPS-L2 is the belts are loose or the motor is froze if you have the frozen motor it can be easily fixed. Purchase the belts from Vintage Electronics. When you open the Walkman take off the motor. Leaving the connection wires intact. Make sure to keep the motor away from the rest of the Walkman spray a bit of WD-40 and wiggle the motor back and forth you will have to do this for a while and then eventually the motor will start to spin and go back to its normal speed. I have fixed over 100 of these Walkmans so I hope this helps.
