How does one turn on a Dell 2500 PowerEdge server?
I have a Dell 2500 PowerEdge server in my basement. Both power sources are plugged in, the video, keyboard, mouse, and ethernet ports are all connected to suitable devices with suitable cables. I see nothing on the screen. The reasonable assumption is that I must hit the power button to turn the machine on. Where is the power button? I cannot find it.
The computer does not have a CD or DVD reader. Is that intentional? Is the user supposed to find an external CD or DVD device with a USB connection?
There is a lock on the chassis. Is there supposed to be a key? Are there user-serviceable parts inside? I have no key. Do I need a key to the lock in order to find the power button?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Check your power supply or the power supply source (outlet or UPS unit) as well as the power cord. Your system power source is not at the correct amp, voltage and may need replacing.
Most servers (including the 600SC) were not designed for use with add-in video cards, thus, there is no jumpers or BIOS setting to disable the onboard video.
Sounds like the RAID controller has failed. I would replace this first as RAID controllers are less expensive than replacing the system board, or the server as a whole.
Suggested: PERC 5i (RAID 0/1/5) or PERC 5iR (RAID 1 or 0 only)
Turn off machine un plug all power cables. To access the jumpers, remove the cooling shroud by lifting the release latch and sliding the shroud towards the front of the system Lift up the memory module airflow shroud for easy access to the jumpers This will rest the password and then you will be able to rest the server.
Hope this help you.
Open the case of the server, and look on the side panel that you removed. It should have all of the server options detailed right on the inside of the case for you.
