Coolant Temperature Sender TESTING a coolant temperature sensor: Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Refer to the appropriate chart for your engine. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sender. Fig. 1: Coolant temperature sender chart — gasoline engines I recently have a new trany and water pump in - 89552g87.gif

Why 1998 olds intrigue is running hot.

1) Is it really running hot, or is the temperature sending unit or gauge incorrect? You could use an alternate temperature sensor to test - infrared temperature gauge.
2) Just because the radiator was cleaned out doesn't mean it isnt blocked. Check to see that water will flow through the radiator.

It could be the thermostat but you need to check the fluid level and for any leaks (these could even be pin hole) first. If you have one of those infra-red temperature gauges you can check the temperature of the cooling system in the engine bay to double check. Generally the engine temperature should not go much about 90 deg C - this is when the electric cooling fans kick in - are these turning on?

2001 honda crv temperature gauge fluctuates

check and make sure your water level is all the way up some times it takes a day or two to work all the air out. if its full than ur water pump may be going bad or the electric temp control for the heater may be bad

When running the engine TOUCH the bottom part of the radiator fins, if the temperature is not the same or cold, u got a blocked radiator FiNS, and u need to replace it! Check also ur Radiator fan, note down what temperature it started to work. If the Fan works at high temp, means ur TEMPERATURE SENSOR switch for rad fan is not working or it has a higher temp operating value! Hope that might solve ur temperament! j/k!

Need more info. Where is the coolant leak coming from? There is a "weep hole" on the water pump. Coolant will generally start escaping from that hole as the seal wears/ages.
The "stalled out" condition could be related to some other issue.

Radiator wont come on.

coolant temperature sensor, not the gauge sensor, plug looks like a half circle with 2 pins inside,i think the wires that plug in it is 1 yellow wire and 1 black wire...1 fan is for the air conditioning.
