We can't get the factory 6 disc cd player to load more than 1 disc. What is the sequence for loading additional discs?

The following is the owner's manual for your 2004 Dodge Neon:

http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html?year=2004&nameplate=Neon

P.99 describes how to load discs:

1. Select and press any numbered button without an illuminated light above it.
2. Insert the CD while the light above the chosen button is flashing and the two lights on either side of the slot are illuminated.
3. Upon insertion, the CD will begin to play, and both the button light and the lights in the corner of the loading slot will illuminate.
4. Repeat the process for loading any additional CDs. The CD playe rwill stop while additional CDs are loaded.

Playing Discs
The radio will show the CD number, the CD track number, and the Track Time Elapsed while the radio is in the CD mode. IF more than one CD is loaded in the changer, the changer will automatically play the next disc after playing the last track of the current disc.

Wow, that's a lot of typing.
I didn't know the 2004 Dodge Neon had such a nice changer.
Good luck.

Think you have a fault with a chip in the cd player ,best advice is to change it for a cd/sd/usb type radio and then a 1gb sd card will hold more than 6 cds which are as obsolete as the video tape

Just bought this used car and the CD load is very sensitive and will only let me load 1 out of every 6 I try. Is this normal?

Try a dust cleaner but do not shake the can. Just insert the shaft into the removed cd slot and shoot some air in there, then try a cd cleaner disc to clean the disc lens. If the disc player is just shooting them out also try removing and unplugging the radio assembly and shaking the radio, slot facing down maybe something is lodged in the cd input area...kids love that slot...

My 2006 factory equinox stereo won't grab the CD to load it. It just says reading disc. I haven't tried to shove one in all the way in case it gets stuck. How do I fix this?

It could be a software problem. Do you have on star? On star updated their software which affected some radio/ players. Some would not cut off ,,others had loading problems and with some cars the Bluetooth stayed on even when the car was turned. off.
Excessive moisture and heat can make cd player behave unpredictably also.

How do i fix my 6 changer cd player in my car

if its a ford or mazda 6 disc they are very complicated and virtually unrepairable. Pretty common failure they seem to last 80-100,000 miles and then brake.

Car CD player won't load Cd's - Peugeot 306

Yeah, the sensor that detects the presence of the disc is knackered - probably broken off. The eject will always eject the disc. Just press the button with no disc and you will hear it try. Look at ebay for a replacement - theyre dirt cheap!
