Low wireless signal strength compared to other computers - the netbook consistently reports about half the wireless signal strength that a Dell laptop sitting next to it does. in low signal strength areas this really affects the ability to make skype calls. is there something that can be done to boost the power of the netbooks wireless adapter?

For HP Mini 1000, the wireless device can be problematic.

I will recommend the HP Mini 210-1084. This has the fastest wireless in the HP Mini range of Netbooks.

Good luck.

Signal strength went from Good to Low

Either move the computer closer to the router or the router closer to the computer. You could also try connecting the usb adapter to a usb hub to remove any interference from the computer.

Cant get wifi unless I am a couple of inches from router. All other wifi devices work perfectly. I even downloaded the latest driver directly from Intel and problem still exists.

Having a wireless Internet signal in your home allows multiple devices to use the same Internet connection without having to run lengths of Ethernet cable to each device. Given that the wireless network is transmitted over the air, the consistency of your Internet connection depends on the strength of the wireless signal. If wireless signal strength is not strong enough to give you a consistent Internet connection, there are a few simple steps for finding the problem and improving your signal strength.

Reset all devices. The majority of Internet issues, including poor wireless signal strength, are very often solved by a simple power cycle of all the devices in the network. Locate the power cords of both your modem and your wireless router and remove them (if you use a modem/router combination, simply unplug the power to that device). Leave them unplugged for a full 30 seconds, plug them back in and restart your computer. When your computer fully reboots, check your wireless signal strength to see if it has improved. If it has not, further troubleshooting is required. Move your computer closer to your router, or your router closer to your computer. Wireless routers do not have unlimited range. One reason your computer may be getting a weak signal strength from your wireless network could be because your computer is simply outside of the router's range. Typically, ISPs (Internet Service Providers) will install your modem in one specific location in the house and the modem will not work at other locations, so moving the modem or modem/router combination may not be a possibility. If this is the case, you may need to move the computer to a location that is within the range of the wireless router's broadcast. If you still get poor signal strength, your router may be experiencing a malfunction. Contact the technical support department of your router manufacturer. Router malfunctions often are not the result of a bad or broken router, but of something much simpler, such as the router's needing a firmware upgrade or an incorrect setting on the router's internal setup. If your router manufacturer is unable to improve your wireless signal strength, it may be time to purchase a new router. Purchase a new router. Wireless routers are priced in part based on how widely their wireless signal broadcasts (in other words, the more expensive the router you buy, the larger a wireless signal the router will broadcast). Included in the packaging of each wireless router is the approximated range, in square footage, of that router's wireless network. A good rule of thumb is to know the square footage of your house and buy a router that can accommodate that square footage. That way, as long as the router is functioning properly, you will have strong wireless signal strength throughout your entire home.

I have a Belkin wireless router connected to a Virgin modem. Always has worked fine with a Compaq laptop and 2 Dell Inspiron netbooks with excellent signal. Now have tried to connect with an Acer Revo rl...

Hello,
The router is designed in such a that it is compatible with all the computers. The best way to get rid of this issue is log into the router interface and change the wireless channel to suit your requirement.
1) To begin with.. Open internet explorer on a computer connected to the router and delete everything from the address bar and type http://192.168.2.1 and hit enter. Now you will be in the Belkin Router setup. It will ask for a login password when you click on anything.. Leave the password field blank and click on submit. 2) Towards the left side under wireless click on "Channel and SSID". Now you see wireless channel change it to different channel and click on "OK / Save". Now check the signal strength in your Acer computer. If its still the same try different channel and check.
Hope this helped.

Internet access comes and goes

this is a simple problem with simple solutions. if your signal strength is low move router to an open location or wrap the antenna in foil. also try rebooting your router. also note that it is only logical for it to get weaker if you get further away from it. best of luck bud! hope this helps!

Wireless signal is very weak

Signal strength is varies depend on your position,
Hardware type, wireless provider line-of-sight (how
many obstacles that blocking the signal), and other
factors.

Make sure you connect to the same wireless spot.
Or at least go to places with wireless spots and compare
signal strength.

If you never have a strong signal from at least 5 different spots
(make sure you check it's the top 5 best spots you find,
ask others who connect to the spot also to make sure)
then you go to your repair shop and ask them why.

But, if you at least have 1 strong signal then
your spot just having a weak transmission.

signal is bouncing off doors and walls to get to your comp
move comp closer to modem if it increases and your signal strength increases then you know youll have to be close to modem

other problem someone taped your signal and it working off of it call your provider to come out test the wireless signal strength and or password your wireless router settings so some one cant interfere with signal
