Hello Steve !
The only way scanning Legal documents on this HP LJ 3030 willbe using the ADF ( Automatic Document Feeder) since the size of the flatbed its only for letter.
So, after placing the document on the automatic document feeder theres a few setting you will need to change on the printer.
Number 1 : Go to Main Menu on the printer and look for System Setup, under system set up look for Paper setup, hit ok and now look for "Def. Paper Size" and set it to "Legal"
Number 2 : you should have a button on the printer control panel (Physical printer) that says " Reduce / Enlarge" , hit it and make sure the one selected is "original=100%"
Now just hit "Start Copy" and it print LEGAL ! it worked for me
Hope this help !

Hello Steve !
Im sorry fo the confusion, to scan legal to your computer you need to have the HP software on your computer first. When you have the Full Solution software already installed, go to START, the under all programs look for the HP folder, click on it and you will find the HP laserjet 3030, under this folder you shoul have an option for "SCAN", click on it and this will bring the "HP scan utility"
Now what you need to do is to create a new profile with custom settings (LEGAL SCAN) , on this "Hp scan utility" go to the button set up, select "create a new destination" and hit next... on step 2 select on paper size " LEGAL" , resolution and DPI can stay the same, click next, specify a name for this new profile and finally SAVE
Now go back to HP laserjet scan utility and select the new profile, place the document on the Automatic document feeder and hit scan.
Good Luck

It works, even though the paper size still showed "Letter".
Thanks !

These instructions tell me how to COPY legal docs through the doc feeder to legal paper. They DO NOT tell me how to SCAN legal docs through the doc feeder to legal size images.
