My direct3ddevice9 crashes when i load any 3d game.. i have windows vista home with 2gb ram 320gb hard disk

Hi there!
There are several reasons for this, It's possible that your graphics card cannot handle the resolution you are playing at, the CPU generates too much heat on load, corrupted data on the game, power supply unit is not enough.
However, I would suggest you try lowering the resolution on the game (it may also depend on what game you are playing). Or, try reinstalling the game.
Regarding the normal windows mode, you may be referring to a different operating system like XP.

Try these....
Overheating problem in your PROCESSOR!
Check the temp in your BiOS and the setting of your processor!
Check also the power supply and upgrade it to hifgher wattage!
Clean your processor HEAT SiNK, dust and dirt might have acumulated!
Check the HEAT sink position, if its flatly fitted on top of procie, and scrape the old silicon paste between ur proci and heat sink and put a NEW ONE!

Encountered this kind of prob.. the prob is in the PSU unit(Power Supply Unit)!

If u have 2 ram in 1 computer memoryh frequence
conflict betwwen each other if both r differ.
So cheange yhour ram and check both rammeoroy frequence are same .

try running a memmory test on your memmory. I use "Hiren's Boot Disk" to run these kinds of checks. If your RAM has any problems, it will show it.

Also, does the game crash and return you to your desktop? Or does the PC reboot? Or does it Blue Screen?

It also "might" be incompatability?

If your hard disk crashed then it sounds like the boot partition is corrupted or gone. I'm not sure you can rescue this without some professional software or help for that matter.

Might be just as easy & cheaper to buy a new hard drive & instal from scratch. Hard drive prices have dropped significantly over the last few years & at least you'll get a warranty with the new one!

Well, I'm amazed a C640 runs Vista at all. There's no reason to buy a new hard drive, except for the novenlty of having one loaded with Vista on a C640. It's a great laptop, and runs Windows XP PRo perfectly well. If you have one od the Dell XP install disks, just boot from it, and whenever it finds the vista install, hit excape, then at the next screen hit "D" to delete the partition, then choose "quick format", and load the Operation system.
