Inside the back of your freezer there are two holes that lead to your refrige there is also a fan with a small motor attached is the fan blowing the air fromthe freezer into the refridge section also are the two holes plugged up with ice these are some of the first things that you should be checking turning that switch basicly jut opens the damper door that goes fromthe freezer to the fridge so in allactuality if the door is pluged with ice or the air isnt being pushed through those holes your refridge wont get that cold also another thing to check would be the operation of that small damper door if you do have a fan runnning and do not have ice but if the door is always closed this could also cause this problem hope this helps

SOURCE: Our caravan fridge electrolux rm4206

remove the fridge from caravan, now turn upside down and leave for as long as possible. what this does is get rid of any air locks in the gas. once left for a month or too turn back and leave for a day to setal and refit to caravan.this should solve your problem, it has been tried and tested on our caravan and worked. (This will not work on a domestic house fridge because they work on a different system)

SOURCE: Fridge compartment not cold

I would like to get the temperatures in freezer and bottom freezer Profiles are somewhat different than most. We have either a defrost problem or the electronic air damper is stuck shut or defective. I will try to find your model number but it just will not be as helpful as using the correct model. Anyway I am here and ready when you are, Sea Breeze

Freezer turns of in cold weather

Many residential refrigerator / freezers are designed to work at temperature considerably above above freezing. Most modern refrigerator / freezer have a single electric thermostat - located in the fresh food compartment. This lone thermostat will control the compressor to keep the fridge (fresh food) section at the desired temperature (usually between 34 - 38 degrees F). The freezer will get colder regardless of how cold it is already whenever the fridge thermostat turns the compressor on.

Now that you see how the thermostat works, let's look at what happens when the fridge is placed in an unheated space - like a garage. In winter time, the temperature can drop considerably below 38 degrees. If the outdoor temperature remains cold enough, for long enough - it will affect the thermostat in the fridge. The temperature inside the fridge could drop below 38 degrees, preventing the thermostat from telling the compressor to turn on. Meanwhile, the temperature in the freezer compartment slowly rises from the normal -10 to 0 F degrees. It will continue to rise until it is the same temperature as the fresh food compartment or until the thermostat in the fresh food compartment tells the compressor to turn on again. This means the freezer contents will thaw.

If the temperature in the garage is even in the 40 to 50 degree range, the loss of cold in the fridge may not happen often enough to keep the compressor coming on often enough to keep some freezer items frozen solid - such as ice cream. Remember, water freezes at 32 degrees F, other products may require lower temperatures to remain frozen, and could thaw at 28 or other temperature.

Good luck!

You need to put a heat source in the fridge compartment near the fridge thermostat. Try putting a lower wattage bulb (40w) into the fridge compartment. Or even try this, take the door switch out of the fridge and short the two leads together. Tape the exposed ends with electrical tape and that should provide enough heat to keep your compressor on long enough to keep the freezer cold. Just remember to put the switch back in in the spring and summer months or you will have a real high electrical bill. Hope this helps you.

I have a zanussu fridge

Re. Zanussi ZK87/46EFS Fridge Freezer

The same symptom occurred in our fridge freezer. The fridge compartment warmed up whilst the freezer compartment continued to keep temperature.

The cause of our problem was diagnosed as a frozen sensor that controls a flap, that controls the flow of cold air from the freezer compartment up into the fridge compartment. We were advised to power off the fridge freezer (removing all food and trays from the freezer unit first), and to leave it to defrost for 24hrs. We needed to place a few towels on the floor of the freezer compartment to soak up the melt water. After 24hrs we followed the power up instructions in the manual (versions are available online if you have lost yours). Within a few minutes it was obvious that the fridge compartment was being cooled – Problem solved :)

Fridge doesn't get cold enough

If the evaporator fan is not running. The fan itself could be faulty or the door operated light/fan switch could be faulty.

If the evaporator fan is running. The fridge is not defrosting and ice has built up on the evaporator and the air is not circulating properly into the fridge compartment. The fan circulates cold air into the fridge and back through the fridge control which is normally just an adjustable flap which allows more or less cold into the fridge depending on the setting. If the fridge is not defrosting, the defrost timer could be faulty or heater element could be blown.
