Samsung DLP 42" flickering green screen

Tv was fine yesterday. Turned it on today and the picture is green with horizontal lines and jumps or flickers. Any idea what's wrong?

    My samsung dlp just started this flickering green screen problem. On all inputs. A ghost image of input can be seen through the green. The sound is fine. Also, when I display the menu screen it shows up clearly with all colors.

    I have a 50" Samsung DLP HDTV.  I purchased it in January of 2006, and just recently it started to flicker green.  This only happens on the cable input, not any auxiliary inputs, menus, or even picture in picture on cable have this problem.  The only solution i've found is to unplug it for a minute and then plug it back in.  It does come back occasionally though and is quite a pain.

    I have the same problem. Question, is the DM board replaceable? What is approximate cost? Thanks for all your help.

    I have the same problem. TV is only about 2 1/2 years old.

    I turned my TV on this morning and the green/flickering almost "rolling" screen was there. Yesterday it was 100% fine. The only thing I dont understand is that it's like this from the cable box into the tv and the DVD player into the tv but the secondary connection from the cable box works fine no matter which input i use...and the other two wont work no matter what input i use. Any suggestions?

    My problem is identical to "dwipman". I am curious if dipman got the problem fixed and if so, what was the final prognosis.

  • casimec Jan 20, 2009

    I have the same problem. TV shows pictures like in the included pictures. I remove power then after a couple of attempts to turn it on, it works fine, both HD and standard channels.

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2012

    Exact same problem as that first picture.
    It is over multiple inputs, so one could rule out it being loose connections, as well, while I am not 100% sure, it shouldn't be the color wheel. I have had a shattered color wheel before and this is not the same situation.
    I imagine it's just the board that is going to fail. Everyone says it. Samsung builds these piece of **** terribly so that they consistently fail.

    If anyone knows the solution, please post.

Just unplug and plug back in. Worked for me.

Try it a few times.

May not work for everyone.

Hi,

Based on your general description, it could be:
1. loose connection or cold solder on any of the connectors and/or boards specially those related to power;
2. heat related - at some point, the heat generated inside the unit could cause a component failure or worsen a cold solder/loose connection;
3. a component is about to fail - on most Samsung projection TVs, this would be the DM board. Exhibited symptoms would be screen flickers (white flashes) and in some instances after about a minute the screen gradually turns very very bright (almost white) from the bottom of the screen to the top.

Any of the above would require familiarity with electronic circuitry and components, use of a DVM and a soldering iron as well as access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable venturing into a DIY, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Samsung 5271f. Picture usually great but sometimes when an image with horizontal lines appears (e.g. crawl at the bottom of the screen) picture jumps and flickers. Reverts back after crawl disappears.

Vertical lines across my entire screen

My 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV HP-R4252 has a 2" vertical strip of green pixels down the right side of the screen.

My 3 year warranty with Circuit City expires in Nov 2008.. so I hope I'm covered.. can't call until the morning.

Samsung said it might be a logic board problem.. but they want almost $2000 to fix. I might as well buy another TV if Circuit City can't fix it.
