Go to the component manufatures web site. If they don't have vista drivers, it might not work with vista. Try the XP driver. Always set a restore point before mucking with your system
Unfortunately ASUS has not written drivers specifically for Vista.
It could be that the sound chipset is INCOMPATABLE with Vista.
But before you give up try Win XP's and Win 2000's driver (They do share SOME architecture with Vista and just might work.
If that fails you can type in your soundcards name (Soundmax) and "Drivers" into your preferred search engine and see if someone has written a third party driver for it.
If this fails, I'm sorry to say it looks like your options are limited.
1.) Get anew sound card. There are some very affordable ones on the market
or
2.) Give up on Vista and put your previous Windows back on
try going to DRIVER-PRO.com its official release of latest drivers for vista user,free downloads or try DriverDatabases.com it update&repair out of date Acer drivers,free downloads...hopes these help you
If you had it working with vista, how did you first install it with vista, you must have had the correct driver already or is this a typo? Have you contacted actual manufacturer if need a new driver or replacement?
Its becoz your sound drivers are not compitable with your device! you cant use windows xp audio drivers. You need to use windows Vista drivers for your sound card device. Then it will work perfectly.
