Currently there's no windows 7 drivers for this model, but we can still run this printer by installing the xp drivers in "Compatibility" mode. If you don't have the Xp drivers, download it from the link below and follow the instructions;
Olympus p-400 windows xp drivers
As soon as you click the link, download will automatically begin, you'll need winzip or winrar program to unzip the files. Extract the drivers to a new folder, right-click on the Setup file, click "compatibility" tab and check/tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select "Windows XP (service pack 2)", click "Ok", Now run the "setup" and connect the printer when you are asked to do so. This will definitely fix your problem. Many drivers and softwares which aren't compatible with windows 7 can be installed and run in the same way.
If you have problem, let me know.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
I unzipped the file i have setup.bmp, setup.exe, setup.ini and setup.inx. I think the correct setup file is .exe but i "right clicked" on all of them but did not see compatiblity
Oops. I am sorry, I've make a mistake. I skipped one step.. right-click > Properties > Compatibility... and so one..
Good luck.
ok were getting close. I downloaded the driver rebooted my computer . Checked the printers on my computer and Olympus p-400 is recognized. So I thought I was in good shape. I tried to print a picture to make sure everything was working. I selected a picture selected print selected Olympus P-400. the printer file opened.. I could select how many pictures per page color brightness ect. i clicked on print and nothing happened. I checked everything power, rebooted selected a new picture I ran the troubleshoot ect. nothing worked. All i get is an error-printing in the printer dialog box. There is no code. please help. Thanks mark
There must be something wrong with the installation. Go to Device Manager and update the printer's driver once again. Don't let the wizard search for drivers automatically, you direct it to the folder where you had saved the extracted files.
Right -click "My computer" > "Manage" > on the "Computer Management" windows click "Device Manager" (on the left pane) > and on the right pane of the device manager look for the printer's name, and right-click again > Update Drivers > No, Not this time > Next > Install from a list of specific location (advanced) > Next > select "include this location in the search" > Browse > locate the folder where you saved the unzipped files > Click "Ok"> Next > and then "finish".
Good luck.
Getting closer. I reinstalled the driver still no luck. I did notice that it appears that the driver needs to be digitallt signed. No sure what that means but it looks like it needs it. Thanks mark
thats digitally signed.
Hmmmm.. .this is going to be more interesting... Now let's try another trick, if it's the problem with the drivers signing, the this will fix it....
Restart your computer, press F8 while it's booting up, you'll auto-enter the "Advanced Boot Options", now use your updown key on the keyboard and highlight "Disable Drivers Signature Enforcement" and show below and press enter;
It'll automatically boot into normal mode while disabling the driver signing feature. Try to print a file or document again. And let me know, if this is the solution, we need more to do with this. This isn't a permanent fix but a one time fix.
Good luck..
STILL NO LUCK. ONE OF THE LAST TIMES I REBOOTED IN MY WINDOWS TRAY IT SHOWED THAT A NEW DRIVER WAS BEEIN G INSTALLED. IT WAS THE p-400 DRIVER, BUT i STILL CANNOT PRINT SAME PRINT ERROR. SORRY FOR ALL CAPS WAS ALMOST DONE HUNTING AND PECKING WHEN I NOTICED. THANKS MARK
