Hello,

Log in to the Nortel PBX and launch the OTM manager from the desktop shortcut with administrative credentials. Use a remote desktop product such as VNC to access remote phone system installations. Click the plus sign to expand the container that represents your organization. Double click Option 11 to open the system manager. Expand the Stations container. Double click Station Administration to open the set administration interface. Double click any entry to make changes to an existing phone. Click View and then Sort to re-order the list of phone by name, directory number, or terminal number. Click Edit and then Add or Delete to create new phone or remove old entries. Highlight phones that have been changed and show REP in the Sync Status column, then select Synchronize, and Transmit Selected to commit the changes you have made.
Return to the Option 11 window and double click CPND to make changes to employee or phone names and other identification information. Click View and then Sort to re-order the list of phones by name, directory number, or terminal number. Double click the entry you wish to edit. Change the extension the name is connected to or the way names are displayed. Click OK to return to the CPND window, then highlight the entry you have changed. Click Synchronize and Transmit Selected to commit the changes you have made. Click View at the top of either the Station Administration window or the CPND window, then select Employee Selector. Click the column headings to re-order the list by name or number. Click Add New Record button to add employees to the list. Double click an entry to modify the record and how it's displayed, then click Apply, and OK. Close the Employee selector and return to the CPND window, highlight the changed or added entry and click Synchronize, and Transmit Selected to commit the changes you have made. Verify any changes made to a phone or display name to ensure your modifications have taken effect and work properly. Close the remote connection to the PBX or lock the console when you are finished to prevent any unauthorized access.
Take care.

M7310: Phone number

Sorry about the delay, I lost your post and could not get back in touch with you... This is a case where a certified Norstar tech will come in handy...
OK - lets get started.... Do you have the programming password to get into the system? Do you have the programming template (piece of paper to guide you thru the proper steps in which button to press?)
If you do lets go: Go to a set, hopefully a bigger set with 2 rows of buttons... -> Feature * * 2 6 6 3 4 4 -> is this is a CIC's/MIC's system it will ask for a password see next step, if this is a BCM it will ask you for a User ID:___ your default ID is 738662 -> Password:___ default is 266344
-> now you will see TERMINALS&SETS... keep hitting the NEXT button off the template till you see SYSTEM PRGRMING... -> now hit the ENTER and press the NEXT key till you see CHANGE DN -> now press ENTER this is were you will type in the old extension number (EX:2331) then type in the new extension number that you want the set to have (EX:5331) -> now hit the RLS button... check to see if the number changed but pressing FEATURE * 0 and pressing the INTERCOM key.
Now there are a few things that you have to remember, the voicemail has not been changed, the new extension needs to be programmed into the TARGETLINE for your DID number to ring at your desk, and if you have your extension as a Busy Lamp Field on the front reception, you have to change that to your new extension by going to the receptionist desk: ->FEATURE * 2, pressing your button, and dialing your new extension. -> now to see what your direct number target line is, press FEATURE * ) and press the button for your direct line... and see what LINE number you have, now get back into the system programming and find LINES and type in the number that you found on your phone (EX:255), press ENTER and press ENTER again you should see TARGET LINE. -> Keep pressing NEXT till you seePRIMESET:___ this has your old extension and press CHANGE and type in your new extension. -> hit the NEXT button and RLS -> your voicemail dial FEATURE 9 8 3 If you have a BCM your default LOG:___ is 738662 but if you have a MIC/CIC's system it will say password: default password is 10020000 for a 4 digit extension, 1020000 for a 3 digit extension. But if this a BCM the default password will be 2 6 6 3 4 4 -> press MBOX -> press CHNG -> your old extension -> you should now see PASSWORD press NEXT and you should see your old extension press CHNG and type in your new extension. Hit the next button after inputting this information, until you get back to the MAILBOX ADMIN and hit RLS.

Voila you are done! Good Luck

Line buttons showing wrong phone lines

When a phone has only 2 lines, it's not programmed. By default, a Nortel system has 2 lines and that's all. Go into system programming and assign the number of lines and intercoms to a phone. After that, you can copy the buttons from a working phone to the new phone and you're done.

How can i change my extension nuber (norstar M7310)

Sorry can you clairify this question...

-> You need a new extension number for your set?
-> You need a new extension on your set so you can see when they are on their phone?

If it is the first, there are many things that you need first, too much to explain at the moment. But you need to have the password and a template for your phone to make changes.

If it is the second, press:
- Feature * 0 and any button to find out what is on the button, look for an empty button or one that you want to overwrite,
- then RLS,
- press FEATURE * 2
- press the button where you want to add this new extension
- dial the extension of the new person

Voila you are done!

Good luck!

How do you change passwords without knowing previous passwords in order to change voicemail greeting??

Actually, even as a technician, you will never know the origonal password.
But you can get in to reset the existing password back to 0 0 0 0.

There are a couple of steps; depending on your voicemail system, voicemail's are done differently, but try this first.

got to a M7310 set
-> dial FEATURE 9 8 3
-> password: 1 0 2 0 0 0 0
-> you should now see ADMIN and under that MBOX, AA, OTHR
press MBOX
-> press CHNG
-> dial the extension of the phones that you need changed
-> you should now see PASSWORD and under it RESET, press RESET (This resets the mailbox back to 4- zero's)
-> hit the * to back up and repeat fopr all the other extensions.
-> hit RLS after all is done and voila... you have now changed those passwords to those mailboxes.

Now when the new users dial F981 at their desks, and dial 0 0 0 0 the first prompt they get is pleasde change password.

Norstar m7310 phone

Rushy: I assume you have a KSU which controls the entire system. The KSU is cabled to each line number provided by your local phone company. Once you have this line established it now makes contact with your phone set via dedicated cabling to each telephone set.. With all this hardware in place you can now program the line keys on each set for either one touch dialing or line access for your dial tone. Program guides can be aquired through GOOGLE by entering " Norstar m7310 program guide".Thank You. Jerry
