THis is happening when the program that patronize the shortcut is no longer existent in the system ...or the location was changed ...Just delete all short cuts that does that ...and make new ones from the start /all programs ..or for programs installed in a different director (folder) and not in C/program files.. just go to the installation location and make a new short cut..
If my computer and my documents ...and the other original windows desktop icons make the same ...just delete them ..than ..right click on desktop ...choose properties..than desktop ...here you will find customize desktop ...and in there just tick all cases for icons you want on desktop ...This action will place again the original icons on desktop ..For the rest just make new shortcuts from the original execution of the program ...

How do I transfer pictures from my Samsung Galaxy Tablet to my HP Windows 8 Desktop computer. Windows 8 does not recognize the device.

Music, movies, photos and more can be stored on the micro Secure Digital memory card on your Samsung Galaxy S phone. To get all those goodies on the microsSD card you need to transfer them from your computer. Connecting your Galaxy S to your computer is done with the USB cable that was included with the phone and doubles as the charging cable when plugged into the outlet adapter that also came with the phone.

Plug the large end of the micro USB cable into your computer and the small end into the USB port on the top of your Galaxy S phone. Wait for your computer to recognize the phone. If the phone is not getting recognized it could a driver problem. Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll through all of your devices or for Windows 7 click start right click on computer select properties in the left pane device manager scroll through all of your devices. If you see a yellow question / exclamation mark ? ! or a Red X you will need to update the drivers for this device right click select update driver/reinstall driver software Rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours. http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html Windows XP/Vista/7/8 This might take some time being a freeware driver solution Note: The Driver program will find all of your outdated drivers This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point. Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated. Press the "Power" button on the top right side of your phone, briefly. Unlock the phone by dragging the padlock icon to the top of the screen. Drag the notification pane down by touching the top of the screen and dragging your finger to the bottom. Touch the "USB Connected" notification and then press the "Mount" button. Your phone's microSD card will appear to your computer like an external drive. Click on the "Start" button on your computer and then click on "Computer." Double-click the drive icon that corresponds to your Galaxy S phone. This will open a folder that shows the contents of your phone's microSD card. You can copy files to and from the folder like you would any other folder on your computer. Click the "USB Device" icon in the task tray of your computer. Click "Eject USB Device." Wait until you're done transferring files before ejecting the phone from the computer. Unlock your phone and drag down the notification area. Tap the "USB Connected" notification and press "Disconnect." You can now safely unplug your phone. Hope this helps.

I accidentally deleted my hp director icon from my computer i dont know how to restore my hp director

Hi,

If you have just deleted the icon from desktop and not uninstalled then we can put a shortcut back on desktop

Click on START button
click on MY Computer
OR
Open MY Computer icon from Desktop

Open Local Disk C:\
Open Program Files
Open HP Folder
Open Bin Folder
You will find a file by name HPDIREC
Right click on the file name and Click create shortcut on desktop ( this icon will not look exactly like the HP Director icon you deleted )

Close the window and you will find the HP Direct icon on desktop

If not, you can uninstall the software from Add/remove programs under control panel and install the latest software for your printer. Click on the download button below to open HP website to download the software by selecting your operating system
Download

*Note : HP Director is not longer designed by HP. IT is replaced with a new Software called HP Solution Center

The appearance of my icons changed, they now have a small blue square with two right arrow symbyls in the square.

    Instructions Things You'll Need:
    • Windows XP
Change Default Icons in Windows XP
    1. Step 1 Start Windows in your normal fashion.
    2. Step 2 Click the Start menu and select the "My Computer" option. Alternately, you can double-click the "My Computer" desktop icon if you've enabled it to appear on the desktop.
    3. Step 3 Double-click on your hard drive to open the directory.
    4. Step 4 Find the program for which you wish to change the associated icon. You'll need to know its location on the hard drive. If you don't know where it is, you can use the Start menu "Search" feature to locate it.
    5. Step 5 Right-click on the file, and click the "Properties" menu option. This will open the Properties menu for the file.
    6. Step 6 Click the "Change Icon" button. If there is no "Change Icon" button, you will need to create a desktop icon instead. To do so, cancel out of the Properties menu and right-click the file again. This time, select "Send to -> Desktop (create shortcut)."
    7. Step 7 Click on one of the icons that appears in the list. If the icon you want isn't on the list, click the "Browse" button to search for more icons.
    8. Step 8 Click "OK" once you've chosen the icon you'd like to use.
    9. Step 9 Click "Apply" to confirm your changes, and then click "OK" to close the window.
    10. Step 10 Wait a moment to see the icon change. There are times, like when a lot of system resources are in use, when icon changes can take a moment to appear.
