Magellan 400 GPS. I am getting 'fatal application error' on my gps magellan 400

This is possibly an issue with the software the gps uses to work. You could try doing a Firmware update by connecting it to a computer and going to the Magellan website to access the update.

What is Geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor sporting activity using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to hide and seek the geocache (container) hidden at that location (anywhere in the world).

When pulling up geocache map

This is a common problem when you enter geocaches or Waypoints in which you DID NOT SCRUB the html code. Start Deleting Geocaches until you find the bad one and all will return to normal.

Also investigate a program called GSAK and use its stripper before you load the geocaches.

USB port is busy error message

You don't because the magellan is having internal memory problems with corrupt files. You may try to update the firmware again but it probably will not work. Magellan Repairs are available at the jungleghost.com site.

I have a Garmin 250 Nuvi. I would like to do some

No this is a road navigation only unit. For a cheap entry level GPS that you can use for Geocaching, take a look at the Garmin eTrex series. For a top of the line, consider a GPS60csx or the new Oregon series from Garmin.

How do i enter gps coordinates?

First I suggest that you download the latest manual for your unit. Magellan has the manuals

Now if you have the latest firmware loaded then one way is to press MENU .. go to create and pick Waypoint or Geocache and the new menu will allow you to pick coordinates as the method of entry.

The coordinates that I get are 30 metres off from the other GPS units that we geocache with. My settings must be off.

Yes, have you enabled WAAS on your 60CSx? WAAS is an acronym for Wide Area Augmentation System, according to the instruction manual an FAA funded service to improve overall integrity of the GPS signal through North America.

If you are in an area which is not serviced by ground stations, having WAAS enabled may degrade the signal from the GPS satellites. Try enabling or disabling this feature.

To do so, acess the System Startup Page. On the Setup Menu page, highlight the System icon and press Enter. WAAS is the second available setting on this page.

Make sure your batteries are fresh; I prefer alkalines in this model. Set the battery type in the System Setup Page, same page as noted for WAAS above.

Another thought is to be sure you have the latest Garmin software installed. Visit their site to download the latest and greatest, free, of course.

I want to go Geocaching and I want to know how to enter Lat/Long or update my equipment to this?

well i'm a great geocacher and i love to help people with the GPS'rs
so you found the guy :))))
It may not be the easiest approach, but you could create a custom POI file for your Geocache locations and then load them into your c330 using POI Loader.

If you're a premium member on Geocaching.com, it's my understanding that you can download locations in GPX format. POI Loader is supposed to read GPX files, but I haven't tried it with geocache locations yet.

Do you have a geocaching account that can download GPX files?

Someone told me that you can use Long/Lat with Google Earth, and you can save Google Earth POI's in GARMIN .cvs format, to use in the PIO Loader.
