Doesn't clean clothes properly, towels when dried (even when using fabric conditioner) are like sandpaper, clothes and towels come out ripped (even though on reduced ironing) and now, the plumber tells me my kitchen sink was blocked because he found all ripped clothes in the pipe. Does this machine have a design fault, as a previous plumber has told me he had the same machine and experienced the same problems?

Replace the washer is my suggestion.

If the odor does not go away, it is probably time to change the rubber door boot, or you have something stuck in the drain. Take a good look at the rubber around the door. If it has mildew spots and/or mold, it generally won't go away. Pull the rubber back a bit and look BEHIND the boot as well. You may have some lost items stuck in the boot causing the odor. Last of all, UNPLUG the washer and remove the lower kick panel under the door by removing the three 7mm screws and check the drain pump for foreign objects. There's only one pump inside the washer so it won't be too hard to find. It is usually white in color and has a screw off access cover. There is a bit of residual water that remains in the wash tub all the time. You will need to drain this first or you will have a mess to clean up. You can use some towels or use a shop vac. If you use towels, lay them down around the drain pump and remove the access cover. If you use a shop vac, pull all the residual water from the wash tub through the drain line. Sometimes this pump will build up with all kinds of scunge from soap residue and/or foreign object getting caught. Clean it out real well and run the washer on a bleach cycle with the hottest water setting you have. Let me know if any of this helps you. I too have a HE4t washer. When I bought it, the Sears sales man said that after doing the wash for the day, you have to always wipe out the insides of the rubber gasket. If you do not do this, you will get mold build up. I an anal about doing this and for 6 months now have had no mildew smell. However, I went on a trip for 2 weeks and when I got back, there was an awful mold smell. I checked the gasket and sure enough, there was gunk build up. Needless to say hubby and kids did not do the maintenance. I had to wipe it up several times with bleach to remove the mold spores. Then I ran a sanitary cycle with pure bleach. Smell is gone thankfully.
But don't you think it's ironic to have a $1500.00 machine that needs to be babied after the end of the day?

The inlet to the conditioner compartment is probably blocked.
Get a thin piece of flexible wire and make a right angled bend on the end about 1" long, and poke it into all the holes u can see in the top of the dispenser compartment, particularly the ones at the front right side.
This should solve the prob.

have you tried just white vinegar as your rinse aid. Do a full cycle of your washing machine using white vinegar instead of detergent, to clean any residue from pipes, and then in the next wash try white vinegar as your rinse aid.

have you lifted up the conditioner flap on the drawer, you would of seen a long plastic tube sticking up, this tube gets blocked from time to time resulting in the softner not going into the machine. if you have cleaned this tube when you took the drawer out, then the only other cause is the solonoid vavle is the fault. this is easily replaced.

Clean smooth leather shoes by first removing the laces and giving them a vigorous brushing with a shoe brush.
Clean salt stains from shoes by mixing equal parts white vinegar and water and dampening a small cloth. Use the cloth to scrub the stained area. For suede or nubuck, use a nylon bristle brush.
Use leather cleaner or saddle soap to clean the leather with a soft cloth. Pay particular attention to the seams.
Clean suede or nubuck with a pencil eraser or fine sandpaper, then rub with a bath towel to bring up the nap again.
Apply leather conditioner to all leather shoes, taking care to use the correct kind for smooth leather or suede. Conditioner keeps your shoe leather soft.
Waterproof your shoes.
Polish your shoes to help protect them and to give them a clean-looking gloss.
Deodorize your shoes by sprinkling a generous amount of baking soda into them and shaking the shoes to distribute it inside. Let stand overnight, and then shake the baking soda out
