Sorry, there are no Windows 7 Drivers. There are a couple of work arounds. I use an older laptop with Windows XP. The XP drivers are easy to find on line. There is another way, but I have not tried it. It's using XP compatibility mode in Win 7.

check and make sure that you have that printer as the default printer. Start,control panel,dvices and printers

Did you check the thermal head if its getting hot or not? Another thing is the opto sensor for detecting the presence of media try to clean it first with a brush and then try to print.

There are WinXP drivers for the MD-4000. You can find them in the files section in the Yahoo ALPS Group. There are some conflicts with the Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and the ALPS printers. It is best to connect to a computer running SP2 and has a parallel port. The ALPS group also has the Twain for the Scanner. The MD-4000 does require a carrier to scan things.

Your ALPS MD-5000 MUST be set to print in DYE-SUB. mode.... Is there a Memory upgrade plugged into the slot next to the Printer Port? If not, then it's not an option......

There are no OS X drivers for the 5000.
If your version of OS X is old enough, you can run the )S 9 driver under classic.

MAC is NOT my forte... however, I do know that ALPS offered THIS a few years after the MD5000 came out:

USB Interface Kit for the iMac OS V8.01 and Windows ($99)

You might find it on ebay etc. and be able to use it (no support with this printer on OS X!).

Join the alps and alpsdecal groups at http://www.groups.yahoo.com. The drive is in the files section of one of the groups.

First of all, are you tring to just print gold foil, or a multicoloured image, including gold?

If it's just gold, ensure that on your artwork, everything to be printed is black. Click File -> Print, and click Properties.When the printer dialogue pops up, select Spot Colour, and click the Spot Colour button. Select Single Ink, and Select Gold Foil.
