PSB 5i sub does not work when connected to receiver. The green power light comes on but no sound from the sub. I have also tried to connect to a receiver that currently has a working sub. Unplugged the working sub and plugged mine in and still no sound.

There could be a few potential reasons why you are not getting any sound from your subs even though the green light on your Power Acoustic amp is on. Here are a few things you can check:

1. Check your wiring: Make sure that all of your wiring connections are secure and that there are no loose or frayed wires. Check that you have connected the amp to the correct terminals on the subs and that the speaker wires are properly connected to the amp.
2. Check your settings: Check the gain and crossover settings on the amp to make sure they are properly set. Ensure that the crossover is set to the correct frequency for your subs and that the gain is not turned down too low.
3. Check your power source: Check your battery and alternator to make sure they are providing enough power to the amp. If they are not, you may need to upgrade your electrical system or add a capacitor to your system.
4. Check for a blown fuse: Check the fuse on the amp to make sure it has not blown. If it has, replace it with a fuse of the same amperage.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to take your amp to a professional for repair or replacement.

Hissing? How loud? A sub isn't even capable of making high frequency sounds at normal volumes.

it sounds like it could be a blown channel in the amp. if the sub was blown it would still work just sound horrible. i have blown many subs and amps. you can bring it to an audio shop near you and they can fix it. i just got one of my channels fixed for 35$

You need to determine if its the sub or the amp.

Dive back into the setup and make sure you have the sub defined (page 19). Run setup. It should work.

If not, tune FM, run an RCA cable from either Record Out channel to the sub's input; or connect a CD directly to the sub. Gradually raise the volume with something bass-rich playing. That ought to wake it up. If not, the sub is dead.

Make sure you the plug eorks before you do anything. Plug in a lamp or something. The fuse is inside where you plug the input.

sub has to be on output not input

Had this same problem with a Yamaha sub. Unfortunately it's the amp section in the sub. If they can't fix it in the shop (problem is they don't leave it on long enough for the problem to return), the only option is replacement. I buy exclusively on AmEx cards, because they cover this kind of stuff - an additional 1 year warranty on anything you buy.

I have the same setup. Are you going out of the subwoofer output of the reciever? (it's purple.) then into the LFE jack of the subwoofer (also purple.) That's the only connection you need besides power. If you have those right, try using your cable for something else to make sure the cable is good. Is the indicator of the subwoofer green? Mine comes on with the reciever. Good luck!

Most receivers only handle one sub at a time. If you are deadset on connecting two, you might want to consider how much power your receiver will give to each if you split the signal then determine the power of each sub. If the subs aren't the same you can be sure they will sound strange.

If they are identical and your receiver has enough power to handle them both, examine the connection the subs use to connect to the receiver and split the connection by buying a splitter at a local radioshack.

You will probably be better off using the better of the two subs instead of having both connected. Your sound quality will be more balanced and clear when it comes to bass.
