Xbox not connecting to router

Ok, so I've been connected to Xbox live for months, great connection, everything fine. I'm using a wired Ethernet LAN connection. All of a sudden while I was playing yesterday, I was disconnected from XBL. I replugged the Ethernet LAN cable in the back of the Xbox. The connection to XBL was re-established. However, when I came back later to play, it could not connect to XBL. When I did a connection test it could not connect to my network. I checked the ethernet cable, it is fine, and I unplugged it from the router. I plugged it back in and now it just periodically flashes green. Resetting, unplugging, and turning off the router did nothing. The router is an actiontec m142wr connected to Verizon FiOS. Somebody help!

1) Connect your ethernet cable to your computer and xbox
2) On your PC, Go to network connections and right click on your wireless connection
3) Click the advanced tab on top
4) Go to Internet connection sharing and check the box, click OK
5) On your xbox, Go to your network settings

You must have your PC on at all times to connect to Xbox live this way.

If this setup doesnt work.

4) Same setup on Xbox as the previous instructions
5) Test Connection.

Ok my consle is an xbox 360 arcade i have an eathnet cord and coneted it to my compter and it still wont work and i dont no how to set up my xbox live

how to connect the 360 to the Live network.
Before you do anything you are going to need to decide how you plan on connecting the bad boy. The 360 supports both wired and wireless connections. In order to use a wireless connection you will need the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter. Personally I find the wireless connection to be a bit too temperamental for my liking so I go with a wired connection via a router, but not everyone has the same wireless experience.
To set up the connection via a router unplug the router and the modem and turn off the 360. Connect an Ethernet cable to one of the out ports of the preexisting router then connect the cord to the back of your 360. Plug everything back in and turn and give the modem and router about 3 minutes to reboot.
Once you have given everything a few minutes to reboot you can turn the 360 back on. If you have already set up a gamer profile you will see the Xbox Live screen. If you have not set up an account you will be prompted to do so. All you need to do is follow the on screen instructions. It is a pretty cut and dry process and should not take more than 10 minutes of your time.

I have a Cayman 3347w wireless router and I am trying to use one of the wired slots to connect my xbox 360 to the internet. the xbox will not connect. is this router xbox compatable?

Please try the following steps below;

To make a router connection to Xbox LIVE:
  1. Before you connect any cables, turn off your router, modem, PC, and Xbox 360 console. (Unplug your modem from its power source to turn it off.)
  2. Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your modem and the other end to the Ethernet input port on the back of your router.
  3. With another Ethernet cable, connect one end to one of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.
  4. With the third Ethernet cable, connect one end to another of the router's Ethernet output ports. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox 360 console.
  5. Turn on your modem, then your router, then your PC.
  6. Make sure your PC can access the Internet. If not, you may need to configure the router for Internet access. For help configuring the router using your PC, check the instructions that came with the router.
  7. Turn on your Xbox 360 console and sign in with your profile.
  8. If this is the first time you've turned on your Xbox 360 console, see Create Your Gamer Profile to get started with both the Xbox 360 system and Xbox LIVE play.
If you're unable to connect to Xbox LIVE, you can try to diagnose the problem right on your console. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings, then select Network Settings (setup XBOX using Automatic Configuration DHCP), Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Hope this helps!

Xbox can't find network on PC.

the other persons tip is trash mines better ;)

you can go to your routers2_bing.gif website and enter it manually. Type 192.168.1.1 this might be it or try 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.100

when it shows your routers2_bing.gif info write it down and then put it in your xbox's network by entering it manually. btw the secondary DNS is just 0.0.0.0 if it doesn't give you two. the gateway2_bing.gif is just your routers ip address.

what else you can do is do port forwarding.
But the xbox is not a static ip address2_bing.gif so it'll change. what you can do is when it says to put your ip address in your xbox put all the numbers the same as the routers ip address BUT DON'T USE THE SAME LAST NUMBER! so like if your routers ip address is 192.168.1.1 you can use 192.168.1.23 i use 192.168.2.15 but you may not have the 2 in yours.

Will not connect to xbox live threw computer and cable is good to router

I had the same problem, if you have wireless in your house then buy a wireless connector from a local GAME, if you have a wireless router and an ethernet cable all you have to do is plug one end into the xbox and the other into one of the LAN ports on your router, when this happens you should be able to connect to Xbox Live, this means theres always a wire running but it wouldnt cost much to pin it against walls or under floorboards or whatever, hope this helps!

Can't connect with network

if u dont hav e a router that is ur problem. to get ur xbox 360 to connect to vista media center you cannot connect an ethernet cord directly to ur 360, u must have ur computer hooked to a router with one ethernet cord and a whole different ethernet cord connecting to the same router the computers hooked up to. after you do that go to ur vista media center, turn active sharing on, make sure your router is connected to the internet. then go to ur xbox 360 and follow the on screen instruction from the the connect to media center screen.
if your wanting to connect to xbox live and stuff like that, and u enter ur ip address and security information and it tells u that the ip adress u entered is already in use by another device, and that ur xbox 360 needs to be assigned one, do this: simply go to were u put in ur ip address and set it to get the address automaticly (or in other words choose automatic). then go to test connection (ur router should automaticly assign ur xbox 360 an ip address) and ur router should connect to the internet. if it connects to the internet but not xbox live then u have not yet sign up for an xbox live account.

by the way when u make an xbox live account please send me a friend request. my xboxc live account name is: ghdude22

glad i could help!!! :3

Xbox 360 ics apipa

you need to set static ip's for the xbox 360 and the lan that is on the pc, easy to bride the two connections on your computer, then set static on the lan that the 360 is plugged in to, example:
360's static settings:
ip: 192.168.1.14 sub: 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 ------------------------------- computers settings:
ip 192.168.1.15 sub 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1

I keep getting disconnected from xbox live

do you or a neighbor have a 2.4GHz wireless phone? If so, you'll lose your connection anytime someone calls in, and occasionally not have any ability to connect while the phone is being used.
