I cannot get blu ray speakers to pay over normal tv. My tv in wired to a sattlite dish. Shouldn't I be able to get "surround sound" with movies off the dish as well as normal tv?

Do headphones work?
my guess is either the headphone socket or associated wiring/soldering is faulty or there is a faulty connector within (connector associated with the audio)
Hi my name is Mike Houston of DISH Network, I see you aretrying to connect your Blu-ray to the surround sound system and you have DISHNetwork. I wanted to get a little more detail about the equipment to betterassist you, I was looking for the model numbers for the Sony and Philipsequipment to look at the configuration as well did you want any of the componentsconnected to the DISH receiver. I will leave you my e-mail to get the componentmodel numbers and will you be connecting it to our DISH equipment.
Page 36 tells you how to sync the sound to the picture but you really shouldn't have the TV speakers competing (in stereo) with the Sony. (Page 56).
A) The TV speakers are probably inferior to teh Sony's
B) When you balanced the speakers during setup there was no 'with-the-TV-speakers-on' option. The image up front would suffer by adding an unaccounted for sound source.
hi,
Is there is any optical digital output in your satelite HD. Then connect that optical digital output of satelite HD to the optical digital input of your surround system (blue ray player) using an optical cable.
Then press the function button on the remote of surround sound system (blue ray player) and select D.IN. (D.IN means DIGITAL IN). You will get the audio through the surround sound system. if you need any more assistance fell free to contact me throughfixya.
ok
Hey my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see there is a problem with the Sony hometheater system connecting with the DISH receiver. To get the full surroundsound you want there are two different options you can use, the first is to usethe HDMI and connect the RCA cable or you can use the Optical cable for sound. If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail me back; [email protected].
Connect to the component outputs on the back of the dish receiver. This is the output for TV1. Then conncect the ouput of the dvd dr420 to your TV. I am using the HDMI output on the dr420 to connect to an HDMI port on my tv. This results in a 1080p picture on the TV which is sharper than the 1080i from the dish receiver's HDMI cable. My Sony TV has multipe HDMI ports so I can choose betweeen these 2 inputs and can see the differance since Dish only sends 1080p on it's pay for view channels.
Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.
Put the blu ray player into the tv to see if you get a picture,if you do put it back into the amp then assign the hdmi input you have used in the amps set up menu,if you did not get a picture when hooked up to the tv run a cable from the video [yellow] out put to the video in put on the tv and then set the out put of the blu ray player.
I have a similar set up. For yours, I would run one optical from your Sat box to your 407 and connect the DVD player optical to the Kenwood as well. This will allow you to get whatever your watching, DVD or Satellite to your speakers. For Video, use the component cables to connect DVD player to TV. For the SAT box, coaxial to TV or S video to TV will give you about the same video quality. I hope this helps. A couple of suggestions: Your new screen size will greatly magnify the quality of your video, what looked good on the Sharp may not look good on the Samsung due to the size difference. I REALLY suggest you get a new SAT box with a HDMI connection. Also you can get a blu ray player in the $120 range. The Blu ray will play blu rays and upconvert DVDs to a higher quality picture through its HDMI connection. You will be amazed at the difference HDMI will make on how your TV will look!
