Long boot up time on MSI netbook when Kingston micro SD adapter installed

Found a strange symptom on a MSI netbook with Windows 7 Starter OS; it would take a long time to boot up. After the initial Windows splash display, the screen would go blank, and take several minutes to come back to the logon screen.

After many trials with reloading the whole drive, checking disks, finally isolated it to the presence of the Kingston micro SD adapter, but without a micro SD card in the adapter.

Without a flash card in the adapter, it apparently tries to access it regardless, and hangs things up for a long time. Removed the adapter, and it booted and shut down almost instantly in comparison.

The adapter is not a simple pass through of the micro SD card, so if there is no flash card installed, leave it unplugged, or it may slow things down considerably.

Didn't find anything on a search related to this symptom and problem, so I thought I'd note it just in case anyone else runs into this situation, maybe save them some time troubleshooting...

lonovo ideapad tuns on but doesnt work

You turn on but it won't boot to your OS? or powers on (i.e LED power light comes on) but you get no display at all, not even Lenovo logo?

If it's not booting try booting from your windows CD/DVD and running a start up repair. This is a guide for Windows 7 but should be very similar process for Windows Vista.
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ss/windows-7-startup-repair.htm

If you get no display at all (Not even a Lenovo splash screen) and just lights, try popping your battery out and power the system up on mains only. If this works, pop your battery back in, it should be begin to charge. You laptop should continue to work from now on. This is a problem that occurs from time to time on any laptop and is cleared this way.
If removing the battery doesn't work I would try removing/re-seating/swapping out RAM.

Let me know how it goes, I may be able to help further.

how to change my laptop background in my samsung n150 laptop????????????

I believe your netbook has Microsoft Windows 7 Starter edition installed. If this is the case, there is no facility within Windows for changing the desktop background, it is just a set picture.

Windows 7 Starter is a cut-back version of the Operating System, found mostly on netbooks. It has less features, in order to put less strain on the limited resources of a machine of this type.

my netbook n150 plus is displaying "no operating system detected" HELP!

Hello!!

1. To repair it put your Windows 7 DVD to dvd tray (any windows 7 DVD will work oem/retail)
2. boot from it
3. when you reached to the Installation Screen, At bottom You'll find Repair Windows Option.
4. Hit that option and let it do start up repair automatically and let it reboot..
5. on reboot after repair please remove your DVD to let the Netbook boot from HDD rather than DVD.

If the above mentioned solution fails then, you should reinstall the OS.

netbook pro won't startup

Go to netBookPro boot menu as follows: Whilst the splash screen comes up insert a paperclip in the tiny reset hole near the enter key, then press Ctrl + D +Esc(On). Now the netBookPro boot menu should come up, then select the option : !) Clean start main OS (just press Shift +1). Now you should get a reboot with the initial OS-settings. I experienced the same problem after running xclkcfg.exe (an overclock utility for the Sigmarion III ) so best stay away from this utility. have fun Rob.
