Turn the idle speed screw CCW till the chain stops turning at idle, but the engine continues to run. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. Remove the chain cover, bar, and chain. Spin the outer drum of the clutch to check the bearing which lies between the drum and internal components. If it doesn't spin freely, try oiling the drum bearing area and work it into the bearing. If no help, plan on replacing the clutch mechanism. Hope some of this helps!

How to ignition time this?

The ignition timeing on all modern chainsaws is controlled by the flywheel magnets, the flywheel key, and the core of the ignition unit, so other than checking the key has not sheared, and you have the correct air gap between the unit and the flywheel ( 0.3mm ) that is as much as you can do.

Makita DCS6401 wont idle. When the gas is released the chainsaw shuts off.

Try turning the idle speed screw CW (not the jet screw marked L) one full turn to increase speed. Normally, this is set so that the chain stops moving, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

We have dcs6400 and this tool is making a huge noise when we start it and also the tool is looked as it gets overheated very soon even on idle running. please suggest the grade of oil to be used along with...

2-cycle oil mixed at 50:1
1 Gallon of premium fuel to 2.6 ounces of quality 2-cycle oil.
4 Liters of premium fuel to 80 CCs of quality 2-cycle oil.

Your OM can be found here:
