It should say on the back of the box or give some indication as to the settings but in general you can gague it from the flow rate and or the granual size but a rough setting is about 5 to 6

What Scott Seeders have equivalent settings for "Scotts Turf Builder Edge Guard Mini"

Question edited for clarity 'speeders' to 'Seeders'.

That model is still available very easily from lots of outlets including Amazon. The settings refer to a 'spread per square yard' and is translatable to any broadcast spreader.

Need a setting for Scott's Speedy Green EdgeGuard mini

First, I went to the products website, in this case Lesco and looked up the spreader settings:
https://www.johndeerelandscapes.com/home/spreader-settings.aspx

Then, I went to Scotts website and looked up spreader settings:
http://www.scotts.com/smg/node2/SCOTTSCOM/lawn-care/lookup-spreader-settings/7800015-24900013-s

I cross referenced a product on the Scotts website that uses the same settings as one of those listed on the Lesco website and I found my settings that way.

In my case I was using Lesco Pre-M 0.86% 0-0-7 and wanted to apply 5.3 lbs/1000ft. My spreader was a Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard Mini with settings from 0-15. I found out by cross referencing that the Scotts Speedy Green 1000 and my spreader used the same settings. So I ended up using the recommended setting of 5.5, as listed on the Lesco website for the Scotts Speedy Green 1000, to apply 5.3 lbs/1000ft of pre emergent using my Scotts EdgeGuard Mini.

Hope this helps!

What settings to use for grass seed

If you are planning to overseed or reseed your yard, it would be best to use a rotary spreader instead of a drop spreader. When spreading seed set the spreader on 2 or 3, It really depends on the square footage of your yard. If you purchased seed from a local nursery or hardware store, read the bag and it will have the correct spreader setting on the bag. If you just bought a few pounds and the clerk weighted it up for you, you probably can call and ask the clerk for the spreader setting. But I'm pretty sure setting 3 will work just fine.

I have a new Scotts Classic Drop spreader and an old bag of 16-4-8 fertilizer. 2,130 SF of Zoysia Zeon lawn. According to my guidance I need to spread 6.5 # of the 16-4-8 fertilizer over the entire area....

Does the product you are using list any Scotts AccuGreen spreader settings? If so, you can safely use the spreader settings listed for the Scotts AccuGreen. If your product does not list any spreader settings, please give Scotts a call at 866-465-5160.

After spreading turf build. per instructions two days later 3/4 of the lawn turned brown???? this has never happened before and i've always used scott products. did i lose my lawn?

I am sorry to hear about the problems you are experiencing with your lawn. This type of damage can sometimes be minimized by watering 1/2 inch every 3 days if rain is not expected. We suggest you follow this program for the next 4 weeks if you do not receive sufficient rainfall. For more information, please give Scotts a call at 800-543-8873, and we will be happy to help.

I have an older scotts drop spreader, called a precision flow control model and do not know what settings to use with the Scotts turf builder I have purchased.

Hi,
The best way is to just place a small amount... like 5 lb in the hopper...start with it barely open and see how far you get,,, then compute from there what you need...
The settings they give you are guesamates at best and are often set to place too much... why not??? they are selling you a product!!

IS there a place that lists spreader settings for the scotts turf builder drop spreader? Are they the same as any of the other more commonly listed spreaders? I want to spread some Lilly Miller Moss Out...

If the product you are planning on applying has a spreader setting for a Scotts AccuGreen, or  specifically for the AccuGreen 3000; you can use that recommendation in your Turf Builder Classic Drop Spreader.  If they do not have a suggested spreader setting for the Accugreen, or  Accugreen 3000 settings then this question would best be answered by calling Scotts directly @ 1-800-543-8873. One of our associates would be happy to assist you further.
