Hvc misfier? Was this message on the screen or your own conclusion?

Anytime a microwave shuts down within a few seconds and there was a high voltage jolt inside, there can be damage to the microwave element.

These days, 800 watt microwaves don't cost too much to replace.

Do not put metal into a microwave, as it will destroy it.

Does this help?

Welcome to FIxya
Sir/Madom,
If you are Experiencing Problem during cooking-it seems to Steam activating the sensor.
You have to avoid creating too much steam.
When microwaving foods with a lot of moisture, you should cover most of the bowl/etc with plastic to contain most of the steam. You can also select a lower energy level to cook/warm your food. The sensor is pretty sensitive.
Thanks for Contacting FixYa...

Oven shuts off after varying amounts of time. This could be a faulty magnetron, bad cooling fan (or just built up dust and grime block ventilation grilles), bad thermal protector, faulty controller, some other intermittent component, or bad connections.

Inspect the cord and plug for physical damage and to make sure the plug is secure and tight in the outlet - particularly if the unit is installed inside a cabinet.

Check if there are any loose connections, wire etc- inside

Sharp R-CD2200M Microwave Maintenance Mode CC1,2,&3 magnetron hours exceeded.

If it shuts down it is faulty.

Take it in for professional repair. They are too dangerous to work on. There is 125,000 volts in the capacitor just waiting for you to get near it. The magnetron will make you blind in about 15 seconds and the core is a poisonous heavy metal. It is a $2,190.00 commercial microwave so worth getting repaired professionally. It must have earned its money.

WARNING TO SERVICE PERSONNEL: Microwave ovens contain circuitry capable of producing very high voltage and current, contact with following parts may result in a severe, possibly fatal, electrical shock. The microwave shuts down after 2 seconds. Model number NN-S935BF

you must see if there are some wires connector loose , retight
2) test the microswitch, for defective
3) high voltage capacitor test it for leak or short
4) fan motor for defective
5( magnetron for defective for short or defective.
60 high voltage diode short
use the DVOM OR VOM. if you are not CAPABLE or skill for to do this call some service tech. This test require high skill in electronic for service.
See the diagrams attached.
God bless you

Everything works except for the heating. CLocks, lights etc.

There are a few parts that will cause this problem, the first! a high voltage diode "opens or shorts" the second! is the high voltage capacitor becomes defective, next the magnetron is a common failure "heats the food" the least less likely to fail is the high voltage transformer. The cost for parts and labor will be on the high side to rectify the situation.

It runs but does not heat.

There are few parts that will cause this type of problem, the first is a high voltage power diode "open or short" the second is the high voltage capacitor becomes defective, or the magnetron that heats the food is a common problem, and the least less likely is the high voltage transformer that drives the magnetron.

I have a Siemens microwave (inno-wave). When I try to cook something, say I set it to cook for 2 minutes, after 23 seconds it stops and reverts back to the digital display clock. It seems clear during that...

The controller is probably sensing that the magnetron is not drawing current and shutting down the timer.

The magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

GE profile 1800 2yrs old. Model #JVM 1870cf06. No heat,

{ MAGNETRON FAILURE }
I cut the magnetron right down the center. I can see why so many GE magnetron fail. They have a poor Filament design. The sparial spring that completes the filmanet circuit on the cathode will become brittle over time and will surely fail. I am a layman when it comes to this design. I see no GE
magnetron with this filament design lasting 10 years.

Panasonic 1250 Watt genius microwave- will not cook. message refer to operators manual before use. Have owned for several years, has run afew times after unplugging for a few minutes, then nothing. clock,...

Confirm 110-120 volts AC is entering the primary coil on the high voltage transformer....meter works but can be fooled, I usually rig up a light socket and household light bulb and hook that to the 2 input wires for the transformer and see if the light works or not when you run the microwave....can even set a power level and watch the light go on and off. Discharge the capacitor first before attempting any checks or tests.

Scary but works!....

If ok, put those 2 wires back on the transformer. Discharge the capacitor .
Remove the 2 wires going to the magnetron....run the microwave a few seconds ( 2-3 ) and remove power....again discharge the high voltage capacitor . If you got a good crack&spark when you discharge the cap the second time you are creating high voltage but not using it ( bad magnetron or loose High Voltage wire somewhere )....if you get no crack&spark you are not creating high voltage.

How to check a common high voltage diode - click here. Check the diode with one end off/disconnected....should show continuity one way, reverse your meter leads and none the other way.....many meters are not high/good enough and often show no continuity ( infinity ) in both directions. A full continuity reading in both directions  (0 ohms) on the diode may be shorted/bad one!
Many  microwaves however have a defect in the microwave distribution system which causes the magnetron tube to overheat and cut out and/or damage the diode.

SET CLOCK. TRY TO USE. IT SHUTS OFF AFTER A FEW SECONDS.

I found an envelope with troubleshooting info inside the microwave on the left side behind the front vent. A troubleshooting flowchart was included which indicates that this problem is caused by the high voltage capacitor. I got mine out pretty easy and ordered one from appliancepartspros.com for $55 (which includes expedited shipping. I hope this info helps.

Microwave keeps blowing fuse

If it blows the fuse as soon as you hit the START button, it's almost certainly a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it blows a few seconds after you hit the START button, it's probably the high-voltage transformer. You'll possibly also smell a faint electrical burning smell from the rear vent after you shut if off.

If it blows the fuse as soon as it's plugged in, you probably have a shorted door switch, a shorted varistor, or an internally exposed wire shorting to the chassis, etc.

Unit shuts off (JVM1340WW002) and blows fuses

Generally speaking, if the high voltage capacitor is shorted, the fuse will blow as soon as you hit the START pad. When the HV cap fails, I've never seen one do anything but short. If it's a few seconds or so into cooking, it's usually the high-voltage transformer. There may or may not be a burning smell. The cooling fan often will dissipate the smell. What can happen to the transformer is an expansion of the windings to the point where a couple of hot spots eventually make bare spots which touch, then the short causes the fuse to blow. When it cools, they aren't shorting anymore. It's possible it's the mag or something else, but not too likely. You can (carefully!) disconnect the primary leads from the HV transformer then run the oven, making sure the wires are free and clear. If the fuse blows, the problem is in the low-voltage side. If it doesn't the trouble is in the HV side. If you broke a seal (tamper tag) or left any other evidence that you were inside the microwave, your warranty will be voided. Some parts may be covered, but the labor warranty usually expires sooner. Be careful.
