My player keeps searching for music and wont display anything, it also says it's sorting the music. That is all it seems to do unfortunately.

I have a clarion cy358 car audio system. it has CD am/FM. I wanna know whether what format is compatible with this CD player? Can I play mp3? it doesnt show any mp3 icon on the interface.

it only need to indicate WMA or MP3 when its playing in that format. depending on how old the head unit is... most head units sold after the new ISO-9001 Standards need to display any and all specs http://www.iso.org/iso/about/the_iso_story.htm try burning a data copy first to see if the head unit can search through the folders... if it wont search or do anything at all... its .wave (cd) if the display reads unsupported format and continues to search....it does play mp3/wma to get the mp3/wma files to play, change the settings in the burner program. (try default settings) ..... it takes time to render a nice mp3 disc from scratch, one its working, its really rewarding... 18-20 songs just isnt enough anymore.... try to use 320kbps mp3's as much as you can... anything lower will make ant car stereo sound like a 10 dollar alarm clock... keep the bit-rate high when it comes to music... your ears will last longer too...

Can there be /music subdirectories? or how to keep MP3 organized

Well you certainly used a lot of big words there, and I am no expert, but I highly recommend using Windows Media Player to do all your sorting...It's a huge help. There you can change the tags, artists, albums, etc to fit your liking and it will show up just as you type it.

Won't Turn on

It seems to me like your mp3 player booting software has corrupt, keep trying it it doesn't work after so long you may need to format your mp3 player.

To format you can use the software provided (if there was any.) If there wasn't any software provided follow these steps below:

First connect your mp3 player to the computer, once you've done that go to "Start" - "My Computer" - now look for something called "Removable Disk" which is your mp3 player, once you've found it "Right-click" on it then click "Format", once format as complete put music back on your mp3 player then, unplug it from your PC/Laptop which ever you have, then try switching it on & the problem should have been fixed.

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in some way. Further problems, leave a comment on here and i will get back to you a.s.a.p.

Sorting... sorting...

If the player allows you to add music on it via USB as a Removable Disk, then copy all the music off the player onto your computer and then format the MP3 player by right clicking it in "My Computer" and going to "Format...". Start it up without music and see how it goes, if it doesn't turn itself off, fill it with a little bit of music, then a little more until you either put your music back on, or until it screws up again. Good luck!

Aparently this is the file to make it run or something, if you need this file I can email it to you my email is [email protected] When you open the XML DOCUMENT with XML EDITOR it will read: -
