Canon DS950 IS camera shuts off while filming a movie -- only films about 35 mins... plenty of battery and card storage left...
Wow!...you get 35 min. of uninterrupted movie on a point-and-shoot camera before it shuts off and you're complaining? No Hollywood director would ever shoot that much without stopping....even Alfred Hitchcock never went that far! After your camera shuts down, can you start it up again and resume another movie session?
So you're saying that when you hand hold the camera, you normally shoot for more than 35 minutes at a time? That takes real dedication. Doesn't the battery get too hot?
Well, I envy you and your camera. It seems able to do much better than mine at extended videos. One suggestion I might make....if you use a class 6 or better card, the videos may go on longer. Good luck to you.

Well, not knowing any better, yes, I'm complaining... I set up the camera on a stand before the band goes on stage, and can't get the full set recorded... there is no one available to resume, so I "assumed" that the camera would continue until the card is full or the battery is dead, as it does when I shoot hand-held. I often fill a 4 Gb or 8 Gb card with video hand-held, one file. I edit it at home on the 'puter.
Yes, the battery gets hot. But, I can fill an 8 Gb card (62 min video) on one battery. I have 3 batteries, and rotate them. I don't ALWAYS shoot non-stop, but for some sessions I like to capture the "stuff" that goes on between songs... I'm filming music concerts & conventions (bluegrass & Hawaiian steel guitar)... my Canon does a LOT better quality than my Sony digital tape recorder!!
OK -- didn't know there were different classes of cards... Doing some digging, I see that I'm using Class 2 cards. Will have to get a 6+ and check it out. Thanks! dk
