Installed a lexmark pro200 printer to windows 7, wifi now the computer is asking for a pairing code, what is a pairing code, and where do

  • Anonymous Jul 11, 2010

Are you using a wireless router for the wifi connection from the computer to the printer? Is your wireless network secured? I'm not sure if I understood what you meant by "pairing code", it might be the security encryption you have in your wireless network. If you don't know the security encryption, I suggest you contact your router's manufacturer or contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.

No need to contact technical support for this. I just figured this out. Press the button with the wrench icon underneath the power button. This will take you to a setup menu for wireless access. Push the button "ok" for push button access and a Pairing Code with appear on the LED screen. Enter this code into the field of your add printer/device setup field in Windows7. Press ok and the Lexmark will be setup. I never saw this as an answer on any webpage.

I can't get it to work! Wi-Fi light will never turn on! I have tried everything, I'm running Windows 7 64 bits, I tried many times reinstalling, nothing works! Please help!

You should try resetting the internal network adapter of your Lexmark Z1480 printer. Please refer to this article from the Lexmark website - How to Reset the Z1400 and Z1500 Series Network Settings. The WiFi light on the printer should turn orange after doing the steps. Try to configure the wireless setup on your computer again.
Also, make sure to use the correct printer driver for your Windows 7 64-bit. If you're not sure, unplug the printer from your computer and uninstall any existing Lexmark Z1400 software before installing the new driver. Go to Start menu -> Programs -> Lexmark Z1400 Series -> Tools -> Uninstall. Reboot when prompted.
To reinstall the software, download the printer driver using this link Lexmark Z1400 driver for Windows 7 64-bit. Execute the file and follow the instructions on the software.
I hope this information has been helpful. Thanks.

I had same problem, even if I download de cjb3500_4500en the processo goes on but when I put to configure wifi (orange) they ask me to put a usb cable, but on actives the button do continue if the USB was...

You did a nice job trying out other ways to install the printer successfully. However, it's weird that 3 computers are not recognizing the USB connection. Make sure that the USB cable is plugged in correctly (in the right position) in the USB port of the printer.
Next, use the correct driver that is compatible with your computer's operating system. You may need to uninstall the existing software before reinstalling the new one. Instructions on how to uninstall the Lexmark software available at http://bit.ly/8ZH59T. Then, you can download the drivers at:

Unable to print

With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install :
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the sofware asks for the printer connect it and continue
