How can I shut my Honda eu1000i off from inside the cabin?

I could shut my old Honda recoil start generator off from inside my cabin...we cut a wire on the old generator and were able to run wire to a switch inside the house...so when you went to bed you didn't have to go outside to shut if off, you could just flick the switch. I want to do the same to my Honda eu1000i - how? This is a pretty hi-tech generator...probably has a computer type of inside...I don't want to cut the wrong wire or something.

You should not have to cut any wires to install a remote kill switch. Most honda engines have an oil alert what will cut ignition if oil level is low. The switch actually shorts the itnition to ground just like the on / kill switch. Just unplug oil alert wire from harness and add a homemade connector with second lead and connect another wire to ground/frame of generator engine. When you short these two wires together it should kill engine. Solder these two wires to a female connector (Radio Shack) and just leave inside generator when you want remote switch. Attach switch to leads of desired length of male connector to mate with female connector at generator. Good Luck.

no set length on any recoil repair
old one will be stretched or broken

melt cord end for ease of fitting and no fraying through holes
and finishing knots

feed one end into recoil internal through outer and inner casing
then knot
set recoil spring into correct position and tension

cord is at least three times around recoil
leave excess cord out for pull handle and later adjustment

then cut .. melt end .. feed thought pull handle

then adjust as you test recoil off the motor

then fit to motor.. pull a few times

and final adjustment of cord length at the pull handle

Where do I get a new carburetor for my EU1000i Honda generator?

Either through your local Honda power equipment dealer, or online at a Honda power equipment distributor like boats.net or dealercostparts.com. I have had great service from all of these options.

Recoil broken

find out who manufactured the engine... if it's a honda knock off a honda recoil might work and you can get an after market one for cheap... like $30 USD or something close

It has been sitting up for a couple of months and now I can't start it.

drain gas from carb. clean spark plug. trying to start with old/bad gas will foul out the plug.

Eu1000i runs and cuts off.....pump is good

If you haven't had it started for a while and have left gas in it, you probably have old/bad gasoline. Drain it and put new gas in. It may have clogged the fuel filter with rust and sediment from the old gas. Next time, put "Sta-bil" in it when you store it for the season, it will stabilize your gas.

It started up one day and soon after it cut off, and would not start, we changed the spark plug and it started up but no current. It was suggested it may need recoiling which is a bit expensive please can...

If you have a voltmeter check what is the voltage in the plugs, or on generator outlets.
If the voltage is at least 5 - 10 V AC Check the fuses, AVR, brushes, rings etc. If OK try to recharge the field with a battery (+, - to be suited) with motor running.
Recoiling is the last to be done if nothing of above mentioned is bad.

2 year old honda eu1000i generator with new spark plug fresh oil fresh fuel clean air filter starts eazy runs for 2 mins then dies

SOUNDS LIKE TO ME YOU HAVE A PROBLEM IN THE OIL ALERT SYSTEM, IF YOU HAVE THE REPAIR MANUAL IT WILL TELL YOU HOW TO TROUBLE SHOOT IT!!!
